And after just eight days of decorating, Becki is already seeing huge progress.

When Becki moved into her social housing unit, she had red walls in her bedroom, which looked tired.

Renovating the walls was therefore at the top of the mother’s priority list.

Becki shared her journey on her TikTok page @beckislife.

In one of the videos, the mother says she first sanded her walls to make sure they were smooth.

She then explained how she applied a first coat of white Dulux paint.

However, she found the paint to be ‘very watery’ and the undertone of the original wall still seemed to come through.

So the mum-of-four decided to head to B&Q to pick up the Zinsser gardz, which she found to be a real ‘game changer’.

Zinsser gardz is a unique water-based sealer for porous and potentially problem surfaces.

The mother shared a before and after video of decorating her wall on TikTok.

Becki wrote, “I knew you wouldn’t let me down!

“Day eight of the bedroom renovation in my social housing and oh my god, the progress I am finally seeing is unreal!

I used Zinsser guardz first to seal the walls you have to work fast and not go over what you have coated or it will pull off

“It’s not easy to remodel your home on a budget!

“But after Tuesday I should be able to finish the other walls and then my bedroom transformation will finally start to look beautiful again and I can finally treat myself to curtains!”

Of the B&Q paint she said: “B&Q, you are absolutely adorable. I don’t know what magic is in this, whether it’s unicorn dust or elf poop, but look at my walls now.

“Sorry Dulux, you’re currently in second place.”

Becki also found that she had to work “really fast” as the temperature was “bloody hot” meaning the paint dried very quickly.

She ended the video by talking about the walls, saying, “They’re not perfect, but compared to what we had in the beginning, and I haven’t replastered them and they’re not paneled, they’re pretty damn good.”

The video attracted a lot of attention and many people took to the comments to share their opinions.

One asked: “What is the paint you used from B&Q Becki? Dulux won’t do it for my walls either.”

To which Becki replied, “So I used Zinsser sealers to seal the walls first. You have to work quickly and not keep going over the surface you’ve already covered or it will come off.

“Just trust the process, let it dry and apply another coat.”

Another added: “You’re doing an amazing job!

“I’m currently redecorating my teenage son’s room and have found that after the Zissner primer I need an extra coat of Dulux, but I’m hoping the extra effort will last longer!”
