Mumbai BMW hit-and-run case accused Mihir Shah arrested after 3 days | India News – Times of India


NEW DELHI: Shiv Sena leader Rajesh Shah’s son Mihir Shah was arrested on Tuesday, three days after he BMW rammed a couple’s bike in Mumbai, killing one woman.
According to a police official, Shah was arrested near Mumbai.
A Mumbai court has extended the police custody of the Shiv Sena leader’s driver till July 11.
Six police teams were deployed to arrest the 24-year-old after the fatal accident.
Kaveri Nakhwa, the 45-year-old woman who died in the accident, and her husband Pradip were riding their scooter after buying wholesale fish near Crawford Market.
According to the police, the couple was hit on Dr Annie Besant Road, with both of them landing on the bonnet of the car. The BMW accelerated while they were still sitting on it. The injured husband searched for his wife but could not find her. She was later discovered at the Worli end of the sea link, about 2 km from the accident site. She was rushed to Nair Hospital, Mumbai Central, where she was declared dead on arrival.
The car was registered in Mihir’s father’s name and the insurance expired in May.
Rajesh Shah represents the Shiv Sena party in Palghar within the faction led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde assured that all those involved in the accident would face consequences. He stressed that all persons would be treated equally under the law, irrespective of their status or political affiliation.
