Reddit user Flaneur and there shared the hair care tips in a post.

They said they prefer to wash their hair once a week, and a maximum of twice if absolutely necessary.

“I’m a big summer person. Especially a beach person,” they said.

First, on beach days they wear hats to protect their skin from UV rays and to protect their dyed hair.

“Yes, it makes it flatter of course, but once I’m in the water it’s fine,” they said.

At the beach, a quick and easy rinse helps exfoliate the scalp.

“When I’m in the water (this only applies to sea water), I like to use my hair and gently scratch my scalp,” they said.

“I find it helps as a natural exfoliation in the salt and sand [it] feels good.”

After swimming, they explained that the products help extend the life of their colored hair.

“After swimming, I remove excess water, apply a leave-in conditioner or detangling spray, and brush my hair,” they said.

“When I’m done at the beach and going for another swim, I repeat all of this, but with a volumizing mousse and a squeezing motion.”

For an extra boost, a handy trick brought their hair back to life.

“Sometimes I also add a texture spray if I have to go somewhere afterwards,” they said.

At the pool, the maintenance steps before getting in the water helped.

“When I’m in the pool, I like to rinse my hair with cold water and do the same thing. But I generally don’t get under the water as quickly as I can help it,” they explained.

They added that the chemicals in the pool could potentially damage their expensive hair dye.

To avoid ruining their color, they avoid the pool as much as possible.

“I avoid it because it can damage my hair if I use high/low lights/balayage,” they said.

They added that for the water in the lakes they often have no choice but to wash their hair.

“I wash my hair after swimming in lakes IF I go underwater. I’m not a big fan of going underwater in lakes,” they said.
