In her viral videoTikTok user Caroline (@netjes.caroline) told her followers all about her shopping tips.

Her first tip was to take the carton of milk out of the refrigerator door.

While most people store their staple foods there for convenience, Caroline explained that there are cooler areas in the fridge where your milk will stay fresher for longer.

She suggested keeping it on the top or middle shelf, as that’s where it’s coldest.

Caroline also advised her audience to store nuts in airtight containers in the refrigerator.

She explained that this simple action can keep food fresh for up to six months.

She then suggested wrapping the cheese in baking paper before storing it.

According to the expert, this technique allows the cheese to breathe and at the same time absorb moisture, preventing mold formation.

Caroline also recommends choosing salted butter if you prefer to eat your butter at room temperature.

She explained that this is because the supermarket product has a longer shelf life than the unsalted variety.

People are just now realizing that their cheese graters have a secret function, and it’s making the PERFECT thin slices

As a final tip, Caroline gave us some tips on how to best store ginger roots.

“Place the ginger in a plastic bag and press out the air in a crisper drawer,” she advised.

“This retains oxygen and moisture, keeping the products fresh for longer.”

Her followers shared their thoughts on the advice in the comments.

“Thanks! I learned a lot of new things! I also keep ginger in the freezer so it’s easy to grate,” wrote one viewer.
