My $7 primer moisturized my skin immensely and made my makeup look flawless
A bargain-hunting beauty hunter didn’t have high expectations for a budget-friendly primer and suspected she might even return it.
But she was shocked by its dual action: it hydrates and it’s a great prep for her makeup.
Reddit user HotButterscotch8682 raved about an inexpensive primer that gave her a youthful look.
She was really excited about Elf’s Stay Cool Primer Stick, which retails for $7 at Ulta.
She described it as a “hydrating, creamy primer” that was “really fantastic.”
The Redditor admitted she didn’t initially go looking for it.
She bought it just to take advantage of free one-day shipping and figured she would return it if she didn’t like it.
“I was shocked at how hydrating it was for my dry, sensitive skin and it made my makeup go on absolutely flawlessly,” she wrote in a after.
She added that she’s only been using it for a week or so, so it’s not yet clear what the long-term effects will be.
So far, she is a fan of the results.

“I’ve found that I use it even when I’m not wearing any base products,” she says.
The gel primer stick first leaves behind a hydrating fluid that gives your skin a beautiful base for your make-up.
It is enriched with refreshing ingredients such as aloe water and castor oil.
The primer also contains coconut, spring and sea water for a watery base.
The formula provides a cooling sensation when applied to the skin, “while keeping your makeup look looking fabulous,” according to the product description.
The Reddit user said that balm sticks are not new and that they are a popular beauty product in Asian skin care.
