My 76 year old mother is in a relationship with a younger man who has been divorced three times and is poor

A WOMAN has revealed her fears over her elderly mother’s new boyfriend.

The 47-year-old, who chose to remain anonymous, is close in age to the new friend but finds him “tiresome to be around.”

Her mother is 76 years old and this is the first relationship she has had since her husband died seven years ago.

But since her boyfriend is 27 years younger than her and lives with his mother after his third divorce, her daughter is suspicious of his intentions.

She wrote into the Closet Confessions podcast (hosted by author and journalist Candice Brathwaite, and actress and online personality Coco Sarel) looking for advice.

The mother of two, who is married and has a self-confessed ‘boring life’, sought guidance after spending more time than usual with her wealthy mother’s new boyfriend recently.

“My mother is 76 years old and is in a relationship with a 49-year-old man, two years older than me,” she said.

“They have been together for about a year now.

‘He’s the first man she’s been with since my father died seven years ago.

‘I’m really glad she’s happy.

“I have no problem with him ‘replacing my father’ or anything like that. but the age difference is a bit worrying because my mother is rich and my boyfriend is not.”

The daughter went on to say that her mother’s new husband has been divorced three times and lives with his mother.

“After spending more time with him lately, I’ve realized that I can’t bear to be around him,” she continued.

“He often makes problematic statements and I have to bite my tongue.

“He’s not witty, funny or intelligent, but he certainly thinks so.

“He’s the type of guy who’s exhausting to be around.

Candice and Sarel urged the woman to arrange “a meeting” with her mother so she could ensure she protected her assets.

“I think you need to remember that your mother is not stupid,” Candice advised.

‘And your mother can just have fun too.

“So barring any important conversation about asset protection, let her get on with it.”
