My ass broke the internet at my kid’s sports day, I’m still getting comments about it
TWO years after she went viral for her unintentional ‘blonde’ face at sports day, a mother of two is still receiving messages from admirers.
Katie Hannaford’s butt was all over the internet after she fell face first on the ground while wearing a dress during a parents’ race.
Since the incident in June 2022, the 38-year-old says he still receives “at least 20 messages” a day about the video.
Katie says she is also recognised when she is out and about, for example when she is shopping at Tesco.
According to the owner of the home decoration company, she is often asked if she is ‘the mother who fell during sports day’.
She said she was even recognized once while on holiday in Turkey.
“It’s unreal how many messages I get, from all over the world,” said Katie, who is from Basildon, Essex.
“Men from Brazil seem to love me, as do men from Cape Verde, America and Canada.”
Katie describes her online interactions as generally pleasant, explaining that most people who reach out do so out of admiration.
“They all seem like real people too. Sometimes they ask if it’s me in the video, sometimes they call me beautiful,” she said.
Still, not all of Katie’s requests to message directly are equally respectful.
“There are still a lot of people asking me if I have OnlyFans. That is absolutely not the case,” she says.
She added that the messages mainly come from people complimenting her butt and asking her out.
The single mother never accepts the offers, but says she finds it funny that people still remember her.
Katie explains that her daughters are also entertained by the constant attention she receives.
“The girls thought it was funny and still talk about it, but they agreed that they would never let me race again after last time,” she said.
Her youngest daughter Beau, now 10 years old, convinced her to take part in the race.
What is the parental breed on sports day?
Many primary schools in the UK hold an annual sports day in the summer for all pupils, and sometimes their parents too.
While the children participate in all kinds of competitions, from egg and spoon races to three-legged races, their parents are often welcome to watch the games.
However, some schools have made it a tradition to organize a parent race on that day.
Usually this is a group of mothers and fathers sprinting a short distance while their children watch.
The girl turned red when her mother tripped and her dress fell over her head, revealing her underwear.
After this ordeal, Katie vowed never to enter a parent competition again, and her daughters are grateful for that.
Despite a video of her butt being viewed by millions of people around the world, Katie says she has never felt ashamed of it and has no regrets.
In fact, she says it has had a “very positive impact” on her to this day.
“I used to avoid racing with my youngest because I really struggled with my confidence,” Katie says.
“But I did it this year and the video went viral. It really gave me a huge confidence boost.”
She stressed that her daughters’ fond memories of the incident are more important than any shame she may have felt.
“It made me realize – it doesn’t matter if people laugh, if you make fun of yourself, so what? You’re making memories,” she said.
“I still laugh when I think back to the video and my daughters still talk about it all the time.
“It confirmed my confidence. That video taught me that it’s okay to let loose, no matter what people think.”
