My bathroom and bedroom are completely mold free thanks to a ‘magical’ purchase
THERE’S nothing worse than discovering mold in your home.
Not only is it unsightly, but it can also pose a major health risk if it spreads and grows, so it is important to address it quickly.
Luckily, there is a simple trick that one woman swears by. She used it to completely rid her bathroom and bedroom of mold.
In a TikTok post, she explained that this bargain method not only “reduces the mold,” but it also removes the mold for good.
In the viral video, the homeowner showed how she uses Mould Magic to remove not only the visible mold, but also the pesky spores.
The product, which has a 4.6 out of five star rating on TrustPilot, promises to remove stains from almost any surface, including shower curtains, garden furniture and around your windows, sink and bath.
“Most other mold removers only reduce the visibility of mold, so it will always come back. But Mold Magic gets to the bottom of the mold,” she said.
The before and after photos of her bathroom and bedroom are also quite impressive; there is no mold anywhere to be seen.
And at just £6 a tube, it will only cost you £2 to remove mould, so it’s a bargain too.
How does it work?
You simply squeeze the product from the tube directly onto the moldy areas, wipe away the excess with a cloth and let the product do the work for you.
Other Ways to Remove Mold in Your Home
Use household items
If it is too late and the condensation has had a chance to grow and become mold, you can remove it for free.
Natalie from Which? said: “A few drops of washing up liquid mixed with warm water can help with smaller patches of mould on hard surfaces such as walls or floors.
Use a sponge, cloth or brush to spread the soap solution over the mold in small circular motions.
“If you need to remove particularly stubborn mold, try a 1:1 solution of white vinegar and warm water and pour this into a spray bottle to goal the affected area.”
If you have a little more money to spend, you can try purchasing a mold remover from your nearest supermarket or store.
At the time of writing you can get it for £1.20 at B&M or for £2.50 at Dunelm.
Call in the professionals
You can usually treat smaller mold spots yourself, but if the problem gets out of hand you may need to seek professional help.
Natalie said, “If you notice new mold growing rapidly in other areas of your home, or if the affected area is becoming too large to tackle, it may be time to seek professional help.”
According to Checkatrade, it costs £25-£35 per hour or £200-£400 per room to hire someone to remove mould.
If you want to get a specialist out to check for mould it will cost you around £50-£300.
Common Bathroom Habits That Contribute to Mold Growth
Plumbworld, a leading expert in bathroom and kitchen products, has shared the everyday habits that increase the likelihood of mould growing in homes.
Leaving wet towels and bath mats on the floor
Wet towels and bath mats on the floor after showering or bathing can increase humidity, creating an ideal breeding ground for mold spores.
To prevent this, hang towels and bath mats in a place where they can dry quickly and wash them regularly.
Do not turn on the fan
An extractor fan is essential to reduce humidity in the bathroom.
When you take a hot shower or bath, steam causes the humidity in the room to increase. This creates an ideal environment for mold to grow on walls, ceilings and other surfaces.
An extractor fan ensures that moist air is moved outside, which significantly reduces the chance of mold growth.
Experts advise turning on the fan while showering and for at least 20-30 minutes afterwards to reduce humidity.
Ignore small leaks
Even small leaks from the sink, toilet, or shower can contribute to increased humidity in the bathroom, creating an environment where mold can thrive.
Over time, these leaks can cause significant water damage, promoting mold growth in less visible areas, such as interior walls or under the floor.
Repair leaks as soon as possible to prevent mold and possible structural damage.
Keep shower curtains or doors closed
If you keep the shower closed after use, moisture will remain in the shower. This will slow the drying process and create a damp environment that promotes mold growth.
Mold can easily develop on shower curtains, doors and tile grout if they remain wet for too long.
To prevent this, you can leave the shower door or shower curtain open after use to improve air circulation and dry the room faster.
Storing too many products
Shower caddys and nooks full of bottles and accessories may seem harmless, but they can obstruct airflow, trap moisture and create hidden, damp niches where mold can grow unnoticed.
Keep as few shampoo and shower gel bottles in the refrigerator as possible and clean and dry the areas underneath regularly to prevent mold growth.
