Safety in numbers they say.
It has worked for Willie Mullins, and now Aidan O’Brien opts for the same Mantra in the first French classics on Sunday.
In the group 1 group d’Essai des Poulains (French 2,000 Guineas) the master of Ballydoyle Henri Matisse, Camille Pissarro and Serengeti, probably in as pacemaker.
Then in group 1, group De’essai des Pouliches O’Brien trusts exactly, bedtime story, cheerful and heavenly fence. Wham Bam!
The Poulains looks a cracker and contains the impressive Greenham winner Jonquil, Jessica Harrington’s talented Hotazhell and Godolphin’s Aomori City, smashed by Goudveld in the Craven.
Henri Matisse and Camille Pissarro were both able to win.
The first was sensational in the landing of the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf in del Mar in November, a race in which Aomori City was a third third.
Camille Pissarro has been a short prize in almost every start, but the one he went out was when he took the group 1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagarder in this track.
Goudveld became fourth that day, while another challenger was misunderstood tomorrow, was third.
Camille Pissarro had a preparation for the Curragh for this on March 29, which was second under a penalty in second place.
It was a striking effort and no problem suggested endurance.
Holding and Luther also collide after the end of first and second in Chelmsford.
Both have masses to find on paper, although I suspect that the pair is at the top.
A fascinating renewal. It will not surprise me at all if Aomori City runs enormously.
As far as the pouliches are concerned, all eyes are aimed at Slessigana for the excellent Francis-Henri Graffard.
The daughter of Siyouni, from a Frankel Mare, is closely related to Superster Zarkava, but suffered during the Arc Weekend in the Prix Marcel Boussac in the Prix Marcel Boussac.
She was broadcast 1-2 that day and looked a difficult ride.
This season she returned by perfectly denying Shes, who goes again for Charlie Fellowes and Kieran Shoemark, in the group 3 Prix de la Grotte.
That is a traditional test for the pouliches, and it is possible that Bessigana is just too stylish. But she will have to dive late.
The story before going to sleep once looked as an absolute machine for O’Brien, in which the Chesham landed almost ten lengths on Royal Ascot.
At that time she looked a monster.
But later she was filled in both the moyglare and Marcel Boussac.
It is possible that she is the best fresh.
Was precisely exposed and was beaten in a group 3 in Leopardstown in March.
She should do much better to win here, but can improve much for the effort.
Graffard also trusts the unbeaten Mandanaba, by the father of the moment Ghaiyyath. If it turns into a real endurance test, few will gallop stronger than they do.
At the home front on Saturday it is about the tests of Lingfield Derby and Oaks and, if you like a large gambling race, the Victoria Cup in Ascot.
Only three runners in the Oaks test and it will be a big shock like Giselle (1.15 Lingfield) Not hacking for O’Brien.
There is a little concern about the first time hood, but Giselle is already the best on paper and she is bred to get better with age and distance.
Frankel’s daughter was last seen in a group 3 in the Curragh when he did not get a clear run and finished fourth (promoted to third) behind stable companion Wervel.
For that effort, she had a blip in her training regime and is probably better than we saw.
Regarding the equivalent of the Colts, True can stay much more, but I love the experience of O’Brien Stable Companion Pop master (3,00 Lingfield) who seems to shout for this trip.
He stayed good the last time when he fourth behind Delacroix in Leopardstown in the Ballysax and the run strongly suggested that he had more to give.
After he had a few, he should not solve a problem with this number.
At ASCOT I will take a casual metal merchant (2.40), not find the land too quickly in the Victoria Cup.
But I will turn to Haydock and the Swinton Handicap Hurdle for my best bet of the day.
Lanesborough (1.35 Haydock) Mist experience, but can be thrown in off 116.
He is a real improver who was second of 103 before he hacking 108 at Warwick during a slightly longer journey.
I like to see him come from a strong gallop for Ben Pauling and Ben Jones. After six races he could have much more to give.
Much in the Swinton to choose an insurance competition.
Good luck and yeeeeehaaa!
