A BEAUTY fan shared her ‘broken’ body scrub that’s good for your skin and also inexpensive.
It’s similar to what you find in hammams and all the ingredients for skin care you can probably find in your kitchen too.
Reddit user Cautious_Ice_884 is a fan of natural remedies for looking and feeling your best.
She shared several DIY methods and budget-friendly alternatives.
BROKEN BODY SCRUB
“I like to do things that make me feel pampered, like a nice face mask, warm towels, and a nice body scrub,” she wrote in a after.
She “especially” loves a hot towel for her hands and face because it “feels so luxurious,” “costs absolutely nothing,” and is “really good for the skin.”
She shared a “bad butt hack” for her body scrub that you can make at home using items you can find in your kitchen.
She recommended olive oil and sugar for a hydrating and easy body scrub.
You can replace the sugar with olive oil and combine it with coffee grounds.
“Add honey, coconut oil or an essential oil and you have a lovely scrub,” she added.
She said you can also use sea salt or kosher salt on its own as a scrub.
“Just make sure it’s not too rough. It’s really good for your skin, they do that in hammams,” she said.
A hammam is a public bathhouse typically associated with Islamic cultures.
Two other self-care things she does that feel “luxurious” to her are standing under cold water in the shower and placing a eucalyptus branch in the shower because it “smells like you’re in a spa.”
“Cold water is good for your hair and it’s really good for your body. But not too cold — just enough that I can tolerate it,” she said.
An alternative is to take a small bowl and pour cold water over it in the shower.
She said she felt like she was in a hammam.
NAIL NEEDS
She also shared how she has saved money on her nails since she stopped going to the salon and started doing them herself.
“I think you save a lot of money if you do your own nails,” she said.
Nowadays she uses regular nail polish and applies it every three to four days.
This is usually when the nail polish starts to chip and look old.
“I just can’t stand chipped nails. So I do my due diligence and do it often enough that it always looks fresh and I feel good about it,” she said.
BUDGET SKINCARE
The Reddit user said she uses drugstore products to complete her “basic skincare routine.”
It consists of a basic cleanser, toner, moisturizer, and sunscreen, each costing around $10 to $15.
“The real trick is keeping the products consistent,” she said.
