My face is wrinkle free thanks to a £5 chemist purchase I discovered by accident
A “RELATED” mom shared how she got on board with a major anti-aging trend without breaking the bank.
Samantha Lafitte is 34 years old and has not a single wrinkle on her face. And it’s all thanks to a product you can buy at the pharmacy that is more effective than expensive creams.
Instead of spending money on specialist anti-wrinkle tapes, which can cost up to £55 a pack, Samantha uses a must-have post-surgery product to combat wrinkles.
She puts scar tape over her forehead, cheeks and laugh lines as a cheap way to tape up her face.
Face taping is a beauty trend that has become extremely popular on social media in recent years.
To reduce wrinkles, adhesive tape or specially developed strips are applied to the skin, usually overnight.

The idea is that the tape holds the skin in place and prevents movement and muscle contractions that contribute to the formation of wrinkles and fine lines.
Basically, the tape temporarily fixes your face so that no wrinkles are created by your facial expressions.
Samantha went under the knife for a tummy tuck a few years ago and quickly discovered that silicone scar tape works wonders for surgical wounds.
“Silicone scar tape is said to do a lot of good things for your skin,” she explained.
“I started putting it on my face and I feel like it works really, really well.
“And most importantly, it’s affordable.”
When Samantha went looking for tape specifically designed to combat facial wrinkles, she discovered it was “so expensive” and not even reusable.
Then she had the brilliant idea to use silicone scar tape instead of the special tapes for the face.
You can buy surgical scar tape from your local chemist for as little as £5.
Not only is it just as effective, it is also cheaper and can be used multiple times on the same wrinkles.
Biggest Beauty Flaws
Tara Ledden, beauty editor of Fabulous, shares the do’s and don’ts of beauty.
“No matter how much time and money you spend on your beauty routine, if you don’t get the basics right, everything else is wasted.
“There aren’t many things you can’t negotiate, but these are the biggest cosmetic mistakes that are sabotaging your regime.”
- Do not use SPF: Sun damage is the number one cause of premature skin aging, so if you want to keep your skin looking firm and radiant, sunscreen is essential.
- Use of products whose expiration date has passed: At best, they are ineffective and do not deliver the results they promise, at worst they cause irritation and infection. The shelf life of beauty products varies – for example, mascara is usually good for 3-6 months, while lipstick can last 9-18 months. Check the ‘POA’ symbol on the packaging (it looks like a jar and has a number inside it for how many months it is safe to use after opening. If you can’t remember when you opened your product, throw it out and start over, marking the month and year on the packaging with a permanent marker.
- Not knowing your undertone: If you use makeup with the wrong undertones, it will never look natural, no matter how much you mix it! An easy trick to figure out if you have cool, warm, or neutral undertones is to check the veins on your wrist – if they look blue, you have cool undertones, if they look green, you have warm, and if they’re a mix, you have neutral.
- Skip heat protectant: It may seem unnecessary, but just like sun damage to the skin, excessive heat is the most common cause of hair damage. So if you want shiny, healthy hair, or if you want to grow it longer, using a heat protection product is essential.
- Not washing your face before bed: it’s as simple as this, if you don’t wash your face before you go to bed, whatever has been on your skin during the day will stay there longer, clogging your pores and drying out the surface. Any skincare you apply on top won’t be effective with a layer of dirt underneath, and you’ll probably end up with dirty pillows too – yuck!
“You can reuse it for a week,” Samantha advised.
“In the morning I just put it on a piece of plastic and I use it for about a week.
“The following week I cut a new strip.”
Unlike some other types of tape, surgical scar tape creates a barrier that helps the skin retain moisture. This makes the skin appear plumper and fine lines are less visible.
In addition, some adhesives can cause irritation, redness or even allergic reactions, especially on sensitive skin.
There is less chance of irritation when using surgical scar tape because it is specifically designed for medical applications.
