Marina Lukianov (@luxuryoutletnj) shared the fashion trick in an Instagram video.

“Do you have a tricky zipper that keeps getting stuck?” she asked.

Lukianov, founder of The Luxury Outlet, a marketplace for pre-owned designer bags, explains that this problem is common with brands like Louis Vuitton.

After struggling with the expensive handbag for a while, she grabbed some baking paper from her kitchen for a simple solution.

She rubbed the wax paper over the zipper, going over every ridge and bump.

Immediately afterward, Lukianov was able to move the zipper smoothly back and forth.

The professional thrift shopper, who started her career in fashion purely by chance, shared even more tips for restoring second-hand bags.

She relied on cheap metal polish to clean dull hardware on designer bags without spending a lot of money.

“All you need is Brasso, a cotton swab, an old rag, a leather brush and leather conditioner,” she said.

Lukianov explained that she applied a small amount of metal polish to the hardware and let the solution sit for 30 seconds.

She dabbed the nail polish on the spot with a cotton swab and swirled the solution in circular motions.

She wiped away the excess Brasso with a cloth and applied a leather conditioner.

Using a leather toothbrush, she scrubbed the conditioner into her hair for about 20 seconds, then wiped it away with a cloth.

Her favorite products, she said, are Kiwi Saddle Soap and Apple’s leather cleaner and conditioner.

Lukianov started her second-hand clothing business after graduating from high school.

Like many teenagers, she hoped to earn some extra money by selling unwanted clothes from her closet.

After listing the items on Poshmark, she was surprised that she could easily resell them.

“I would sell my own clothes that I no longer needed, but I would also sell my family members’ and friends’ things, for which I would get a commission,” she said.

A busy thrift store strengthened her interest in the field.

“One day I walked into a thrift store and saw a pair of Fendi shoes for only $12,” she said.

“These shoes changed my whole life.”
