My favorite smart bulb is ridiculously cheap ahead of tomorrow’s Amazon Prime Day
This fall I will be out with all my old traditional lighting and with smart lamps, panels and switches. Govee is currently one of the top smart lighting brands – it has made a name for itself as an affordable alternative to other smart lighting brands such as Philips Hue. However, I needed something other than a smart bulb for my living room. I needed verticality.
Enter the Govee floor lamp.
This story is part of Amazon Prime DayCNET’s guide to everything you need to know and how to find the best deals.
This lamp costs quite expensively at $150, but right now Amazon is offering it for just $100 per week leading up to Prime Day in October. The lamp is supplied in both black And silver color schemesand you can apply a $50 off coupon to both to bring the cost down to $100. With these two options, you can choose the version that best suits your home and its aesthetic and still enjoy a solid smart home deal .
Like most smart lighting, the Govee floor lamp uses RGB LEDs to provide virtually any color you want. We chose greenery to complement the greenery in our living room, but it also changes depending on the time of day. What I like about this lamp is its low profile: you can barely see it, just a small base and a thin line of metal. The focus is on the light instead of the structure.

Another big selling point is the connection to other Govee products. If you own the Govee backlight for TVs you can link all your Govee lights to work together while you watch a movie. It’s a lot of fun to have all your lights working in sync with a movie like Dune or Mad Max: Fury Road. Even without backlighting, all your lights can be easily controlled with one app or Alexa and Google Assistant.
