The woman shared on Reddit that her friend, who is five months pregnant, had invited all her friends over to help her come up with baby names.

However, the women all stood there with their mouths open when the expectant mother revealed her favorite name: Chlamydia.

To the women’s surprise, she said she had liked the name ever since she studied Greek mythology in school.

After a while, the Reddit poster realized she had confused the name with that of Clytemnestra, the wife of King Agamemnon.

The woman pointed out the mistake to her friend, but she refused to believe her.

After the woman looked up the answer on Google, the expectant mother became uncomfortable and quiet, she said.

“The atmosphere we spent the rest of our time together had deteriorated a little bit,” she said.

When she got home, the woman’s pregnant friend began bombarding her with angry text messages, criticizing her for “embarrassing her in front of everyone.”

The woman said: “I ignored the message because she was acting quite idiotic.

“A simple Google search before you got so attached to the name would have solved the problem before it was a problem.”

I’m a pro at baby names but trolls always come at me because of MY ugly name. I know it’s bad so I want to help others.

She added that she doesn’t think she has anything to apologize for, because the situation would have been much worse if she hadn’t said anything. Plus, the baby was named after a sexually transmitted disease.

Reddit users rushed to the comments section to share their thoughts, with many defending the woman.

Someone said, “If she’s old enough to be pregnant, she should be old enough to know what chlamydia is.

“She made a fool of herself.”

A second person said, “You did her a favor by correcting her when you did that.

“It also doesn’t seem like you did it in a condescending or harsh way. She just refused to accept the truth until you came up with evidence.”

A third person said: “You can’t apologize for her own stupidity.

“Luckily you corrected her.

“The poor child will probably get a ridiculous name anyway, but at least not after having a sexually transmitted disease.”
