My Grandma Had Smooth Skin Like A Baby – We Can Learn An Important Lesson From Her
DESPITE the passing of time, a grandmother’s skin remained as soft as a baby’s, and for one important reason.
Even though you may not be quite as drastic in your skin care approach to achieving a youthful appearance, you can still learn something about what it means to turn back the hands of time.
Reddit user Long jump leg4491 shared how her grandmother’s fear meant she never suffered from fine lines.
“My grandmother had agoraphobia,” she said.
While she admitted it was “sad” that her grandmother never left the house, not being exposed to sunlight did have benefits for her skin.
Moreover, she never used any products in her routine to maintain smooth skin.
“She didn’t appear to be doing any skin care and she had zero wrinkles. Her skin was like a baby’s — shockingly smooth,” she explained.
Maybe she had some hair loss due to her age, but overall she looked younger than she was.
While she didn’t recommend shutting yourself off from the world, she did believe there was a lesson we could all learn.
“So actually SPF is a good protection. I’m not saying don’t enjoy the sun, because of course it has so many benefits!” she said.
She also described how her grandmother seemed to make up for lost time when she was sent to a nursing home, which she eventually ran “like a boss.”
If you want to make sure you always have enough sunscreen with you, Neutrogena Ultra Sheer-Dry Water Resistant Sunscreen Lotion is available on Amazon for the retail price of $9.88.
Others shared a few extra golden beauty pieces with their grandmothers.
“Wear gloves and use hand cream. This was from my grandmother telling me about my great grandmother,” said one user.
“My great grandmother lived to be 104 and she used Ponds every day,” another Redditor wrote.
“Her mind and knees were a mess at the end, but her skin was so soft!” they added.
And those weren’t the only sage advice they learned from their elders.
“Take care of your teeth! My grandma lived to be 102 with her original teeth; dentures don’t have to be a given!”, one user said.
“Heatless curls (learned from my grandma) keep my hair healthy,” explained another.
“My mom told me to always wear sunglasses when I was outside so I wouldn’t get wrinkles from squinting,” one user added.
A Redditor also shared another way to get fairer skin.
“Never forget to remove your makeup,” they said.
