My grandma swore by one anti-aging tip – you’ll never find me without my ‘globes’
A grandmother’s facial cleansing ritual helped one woman maintain a youthful appearance.
Doctor Alison Colville says she always feels better after following her grandmother’s beauty routine.
Dr. Colville is a cosmetic physician, general practitioner and founder of The Avery Clinic in the United Kingdom.
In an interview with The US Sun, she shared effective anti-aging tips.
GRANDMA’S GLOW
Dr. Colville shared that a habit she noticed from a young age has become a regular part of her skin care routine.
She is now ‘never’ without her ice balls, as they instantly change the feel of her skin.
“These are little metal balls that you keep in the refrigerator and you can apply to your skin at any time to soothe it and reduce redness and swelling,” she said.
“My grandmother swore that she would stay young if she washed her face with ice-cold water.
“I’m not sure if the research supports this, but I always feel better after I cool my face.”
According to HealthlineWashing your face with cold water helps to eliminate puffiness and make pores less visible.

The skin may also have a healthier glow as blood flow to the area is improved.
However, cold water is not as effective as warm water for cleansing the skin.
POWERFUL PRODUCTS
Dr. Colville said that 80% of skin aging is preventable and that SPF is your “best friend” when it comes to preventing damage caused by UV exposure.
“I always quote to my patients, ‘Nothing looks better at 60 than SPF at 50,’” she said.
She discovered that inflammation and environmental damage also contribute to skin aging.
“A good start to protecting your skin from environmental damage is to use a high-purity hypochlorous solution like Clinisoothe+ Skin Purifier spray,” she says.
“Other essential ingredients to add are a high-quality vitamin C for antioxidant protection and a retinoid to speed up the skin’s renewal cycle.”
Dr. Colville said active ingredients should be incorporated into the skin care routine when collagen levels begin to decline in our late 20s.
It’s never too early to start using a broad spectrum SPF daily.
She said retinoids should be prescribed by a skin specialist and shared that her favorite medical products are from the Skinbetter Science line.
“Clinisoothe+ is also a fantastic product for cleansing the skin,” she said.
“This has a variety of uses beyond its anti-aging benefits, so you can use it for anyone who needs skin soothing, cleansing, and to promote skin repair.”
According to Dr. Colville, for best results, skin care products should be applied from thinnest to thickest consistency.
“So after cleansing, exfoliating, and using your hypochlorous solution, apply your serums and finish with a moisturizer if you need it,” she said.
