My grandmother had the most amazing hair – she did two things religiously
A hair loss expert has revealed that she swears by the home remedies her grandmother used to stimulate hair growth.
She shared the DIY treatments and other must-have tips for longer, healthier hair.
Tatyana Karelina is an expert in hair loss and hair extensions, with salons in London, Manchester and Los Angeles.
Ariana Grande and Mariah Carey are among the celebrities who have purchased her custom-made hair products.
Speaking to The US Sun, she revealed how to get enviably long hair.
HER HEROES
Karelina said that as a child, she only used homemade hair care products that had worked for other women in her family.
“I remember my grandmother had the most amazing hair,” she said.
“She did two things religiously.
“She massaged castor oil into the scalp to improve circulation and promote hair growth.
“She also made a mask with eggs and olive oil to improve the hair’s protein supply.”

According to HealthlineOlive oil can be helpful in preventing split ends, promoting hair growth, and keeping the scalp healthy.
Many people leave the oil on for at least 15 minutes before rinsing it out with lukewarm water and shampoo.
Karelina told that her grandmother always rinsed her hair with chamomile tea.
“We collected and dried so much of it over the summer that we always had plenty of chamomile in the pantry,” she said.
FOOD FOR THE THOUGHT
Karelina said that hair plays an “important role” in personal identity and that regrowth can make a person feel “truly” themselves.”
“I also noticed that clients felt more comfortable and confident in social interactions because they looked better and felt more confident,” she said.
“Less reserved and shy, more open and happy.
“As the anxiety and stress associated with hair loss decreases, this leads to a more relaxed and positive mindset.”
She revealed what specific nutrients a diet needs to combat hair loss and support hair health.
At the top of her list is protein, since hair is “mainly made up of keratin,” a type of protein.
“Iron deficiency can lead to hair loss,” she said. “Zinc is essential for the growth and repair of hair tissue.
“Omega-3 fatty acids help nourish the hair and support its growth.
Biotin, vitamin B7, is essential for hair growth and overall hair health.
