Luckily, it doesn’t damage her hair, meaning it’s still in a very healthy state at this point.

On her @erinrider3 She wrote: “This is how I do my curls without heat at night with socks.

“The two things you need are a hairbrush and a pair of socks.

“I do this on completely dry hair.

“Here I am biting the end of the sock. You can clip it, but honestly it’s just easier to bite it.

“Then I take my hair in one big chunk and wrap it around the sock.”

Erin recommends using smaller sections of hair if you want tighter curls.

She continued: “But for that bouncy look, you have to use all of your hair at once.

“Then I take the end of the sock and put it into some kind of knot thing.

“And then I literally go to sleepand that’s it.

Unconventional Hair Growth Tips

“I sleep on my side and this is a game changer for me.”

She showed herself in the morning taking off her socks and showing off her perfect curls.

It’s no surprise that her video has been liked over 15,000 times and people were impressed.

One said: “So stunning.”

Another added: “So clever, they look so beautiful.”

How can I repair damaged hair from hair dye?

Did you push the paint too far? There are ways to fix this WITHOUT cutting it all off.

  1. Give it a makeover: We’re not saying you have to cut it all off, but you should trim away the worst split ends.
  2. Skip the heat products: Stop styling/curling your hair immediately.
  3. Stop Dyeing Your Hair: Stop bleaching and use ammonia-free semi-permanent hair dye for the time being.
  4. Switch to sulfate-free: Use milder, sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners to repair your damaged hair. And if possible, wash your hair no more than twice a week, as this strips damaged hair and makes it brittle.
  5. Treatment masks: Use one of the hair masks below to rejuvenate your locks.
  6. Sun protection: Cover your damaged hair while sunbathing or swimming in a chlorinated pool to prevent further damage.
  7. Eat your hair healthy: make sure you drink plenty of water, eat omega 3 fatty acids from salmon, walnuts and flaxseed, and green vegetables like spinach, kale, carrots and avocado. Some prenatal supplements also promote hair growth.

But a third joked: “Why do mine never turn out this nice?”

People also asked what hair products she uses for her beautiful hair, and luckily Erin didn’t keep them to herself.

She shared: “I swear by @RedkenUKI shampoo and conditioners!!

“I alternate, but my favorite right now is the acid gloss.

“I also use the elixir from @Kérastase and supplements from @Hair Gain.”

Professional tips

Hair expert Chris Wenzel says it can be tempting to quickly style your hair every day, but this is one of the biggest mistakes you can make.

He said, “The damage adds up very quickly if you do that.”

Your hair needs a break between heat treatments, so style it one day and touch it up the next next can cause a lot of problems, such as dry and brittle hair, split ends and frizzy hair.

“Even if you just do the front part or that little thing that looks weird, it’s going to cause damage.”

Chris advises instead to wait three days before using heat tools on your hair. And if you do use heat, always use a protective spray or cream.

The 4 Phases of the Hair Growth Cycle

Hair experts at Philip Kingsley shared the four stages of the hair growth cycle: Anagen, Catagen, Telogen and Exogen

Anagen phase:Also called the ‘growth phase’ or ‘active phase’, is the phase in which the cells in the hair root divide most rapidly, causing more new hair to be formed.

During the Anagen Phase, hair grows about half an inch per month [about six inches a year]and faster in summer than in winter.

This phase of the hair growth cycle lasts an average of three to five years.

Catagen phase:After the anagen phase, your hair cycle enters a short transition phase called the catagen phase. This phase marks the end of active hair growth and separates individual hairs from the blood supply and the cells that produce new hair.

About three percent of all hairs are in this stage at any one time and it lasts about 10 days.

Telogen phase:The third phase of your natural hair growth cycle is the telogen phase, a resting period during which hairs remain in their follicles but are not actively growing.

It is estimated that 10-15 percent of your hair is in the telogen phase at any given time.

The telogen phase lasts about three months or 100 days.

Exogenous phase:The final stage of the hair growth cycle, when individual hair strands release from their follicles and fall out.

Now the whole process starts again.
