My hair is super long – I’ve thrown out an old tool and am sticking to a crucial step

A curly-haired woman has revealed how she grew her dyed locks past her tailbone.

She said a “crucial” change in styling, along with using the right products, improved the health of her hair.

Cezara Robu is quickly gaining subscribers on YouTubewhere she shares videos about beauty and wellness.

The 26-year-old Londoner went viral on the platform when she made a video about her long hair.

Speaking to The US Sun, she shared how she restored her damaged locks.

GET A QUICK BUY

Robu said her hair was naturally “very curly and big” when she was growing up.

But because she used a blow dryer to blow-dry her curls during high school, the health of her locks deteriorated.

“Back then, straight hair was very popular and although I didn’t want to straighten it, I still wanted a looser curl pattern,” she said.

“I started dyeing my hair at university, which had an even greater impact on its health.

“I didn’t know how to properly care for colored hair, which caused the health of my curls to deteriorate.”

She decided to get a major haircut in March 2022 after seeing other content creators showing off their “beautiful, bouncy” curls.

“I really wanted to reset my hair and get rid of all the damage and visible color growth,” she said.

“It took maybe a year and a half for it to grow back, which was a lot faster than I expected.”

STRICTLY ENCOURAGE

Robu said she could spend “all day” listing the steps she took to encourage rapid hair growth.

“First of all, I stopped dyeing my hair,” she said.

“I occasionally use semi-permanent black hair dye to intensify the dark color I naturally have, and by occasionally I mean every 12 months.

“The last time I dyed my hair was last spring, and it’s all washed out now.”

Robu said she also assessed the tools she used every day to style her locks.

“I threw out my old ball bristles hairbrushes because they broke off hair so often,” she said.

“I bought one that is best suited for curly hair and big tangles: the Wet Detangler from Tangle Teezer.”

Avoiding heat has been an important step in maintaining the health of my hair.

The Tangle Teezer Wet Detangler has an impressive rating of 4.6 out of 5 stars on Amazon.

Robu said she further adjusted her routine after tests revealed she has high porosity hair.

“This meant that protein would be essential for the health of my hair and I switched to a gel with protein,” she said.

“I also started double cleansing my hair, which really removed all the product buildup from my hair and kept my scalp clean and healthy.”

STYLING WITHOUT HEAT

Robu said her locks are now at their “healthiest,” but she still wants to learn more about hair care.

“My hair is definitely the longest I’ve ever had,” she said.

“When it’s wet it goes past my tailbone and when it’s straight I often accidentally sit on it.”

She said she only gets her hair trimmed at a hairdresser once every one to two years because she prefers to get rid of her split ends at home.

She said it would be “counterintuitive” to go multiple times a year because all the new growth would be cut off.

Robu said another important factor in maintaining her hair’s length is how often she uses heat styling tools.

“I was a fan of air-drying until I researched the downsides of keeping your hair wet for extended periods of time, so I switched to diffuser-drying and air-drying,” she says.

“I use my diffuser every wash day on a low to medium setting, being careful not to touch my hair with it.

“I also style my hair maybe once every 12 months.

“I think it looks better when it’s curly anyway, so it’s no problem to stay away from straighteners or heat tools.

“Staying away from heat has been a crucial step in maintaining the health of my hair.”

POWERFUL PRODUCTS

Robu shared that she has a few essential hair care products that help her curls look their best.

“I love wearing a satin cap every night. It’s a game-changer for keeping my curls looking great all week long,” she said.

“If I lose it, I can’t sleep until I find it.

“For styling, I like to use a gel with a light to medium hold and protein, like the OnlyCurls Enhancing Curl Gel or the Bounce Curl Light Hold Cream Gel.

“I don’t use them every day, but they are essential for keeping my curls in shape all week long.”
