My homemade mask gives your skin a hydra boost – it’s just 3 ingredients from the kitchen

This three-part recipe for a SKINCARE PRO is packed with tasty ingredients, but it’s meant for your face, not your belly.

WONDERFUL MIX

Patel, beautician and skin care expert at Intrigue Cosmetic Clinic in Longfield, England, recommended an at-home beauty treatment to give dry skin some extra attention in a budget-friendly way.

“This hydrating homemade face mask is super easy to make and apply and will give your skin a hydra boost,” he told The US Sun.

“Take two avocados, one tablespoon of raw honey and two tablespoons of cocoa powder.

Mix it in a bowl, apply it on the face, leave it on for 20 minutes and then rinse it off gently with warm water.

“The avocado and cocoa powder stimulate collagen production, and the honey softens and hydrates the skin.”

While the ingredients are all known, he cautioned to always do a patch test before trying anything new on your skin.

SIMPLE SOLUTIONS

To maximize anti-aging benefits — or any skin care goal — he says products should be applied in order of thickness and consistency.

Patel advises waiting a few minutes before applying another layer of serum and saving the SPF until you leave the house.

Sunscreen with a high SPF can protect against sun damage that causes wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and age spots.

Retinol and hyaluronic acid are almost as important as sunscreen for a timeless look.

I tested a viral DIY two-ingredient face mask for ‘perfect skin’, the base product is very common in Asian skincare products

“These two ingredients, combined, refresh and hydrate the skin for a more youthful looking complexion and texture by increasing skin cell turnover,” he said.

“Hyaluronic acid is a great ingredient to add to your skincare products for your 20s.

“It occurs naturally in the body and is therefore less likely to cause a rash.

Sleeping on your back is best for your face. Also, a silk pillow is better than a cotton pillow, which can irritate the skin.

“I would generally recommend retinol from your mid-30s onwards, as our skin cell production decreases from this age.”

AND THE REST

Smoking, excessive sugar and alcohol consumption can be harmful to the appearance of the skin.

Patel says staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water and getting at least nine hours of quality sleep every day ensures optimal skin cell renewal.

“Detox your digital devices a few hours before bed and develop a relaxing bedtime routine to help you get a good night’s sleep,” he said.

“If a client sleeps on a certain side, this can be seen in the face as differences in facial volume.

“The side they sleep on is generally flatter than the other side.

“Sleeping on your back is best for your face, and a silk pillow is better than a cotton pillow, which can irritate the skin.”
