My house is so damp there are puddles on the windowsill, people say I need a £5 purchase
A WOMAN has revealed just how serious the mold problem in her home is and the internet is stunned.
Mum-of-two Courtney took to social media to reveal the extensive cleaning routine she has to carry out every day to combat mold and condensation.
In the clip she said: “My whole house is covered in condensation and mould. I’m going to show you the things I’ve put in place to prevent this and I need some advice on some things I can do too.”
She revealed that she has a range hood in the kitchen and bathroom, but despite this she still uses mold spray every day.
She also uses small dehumidifiers on each windowsill.
But despite that, she still couldn’t tackle the mold in her home.
Courtney added: “I have cupboards in the kitchen that are making all my pans moldy.
“This is just an example of two of the pans that are moldy in that cupboard.”
She picked up one of the baking dishes she had never used and it was covered in green fluffy mold.
“This right here is my daughter’s windowsill,” she continued. “I clean this every day.”
“And every day there is just a puddle of water on the windowsill. A very fluffy mold grows around this window in the hallway.”
In the bathroom, she revealed that one of the walls was crumbling due to the humidity.
Courtney added, “I don’t know why this keeps happening. I honestly feel like I’ve exhausted all options, and I just need help with it making me so sick right now.”
The clip quickly went viral on her TikTok account @tried with over 75,000 views and 1,400 likes.
People were quick to respond to the comments and offer their advice.
Many have the HG Mold Spray than the one she used in the video and can be bought for £5.25 from Asda.
What is mold and how do you get rid of it?
Mold is likely to grow during the winter months.
Olivia Young, product development scientist at Amaze revealed exactly why this is.
“Unfortunately, mold is a common problem that many people face in the winter. Mold thrives in warm and moist conditions, so your bathroom is probably the most affected area.
“That said, most rooms in your home can be vulnerable to mold growth during the colder months.
“This is mainly due to condensation that builds up on your windows when you have the radiators on.
“If you think about it, if the windows and doors are closed, there isn’t much chance for the air to circulate and for the moisture to come out quickly.
“This buildup is the cause of the dreaded mold, especially in bathrooms, as it creates a warm and wet environment that is a breeding ground for mold.
“If left untreated, it is not only unsightly, but can also pose a serious risk to your health, so it is very important that you treat it.
“The key to tackling mold is to act quickly.
“Try to come into contact with it as little as possible. So grab your gloves, tie your hair and get to work removing any signs of mold as soon as you notice them.
“To keep mold at bay, there are some simple solutions you can apply throughout your home.
“The first is to keep the bathroom ventilated. Yes, even in the cold winter months, try leaving your bathroom window open for at least 10 to 15 minutes after showering or bathing. This will quickly remove excess moisture and prevent mold from forming.
“If you have repeated problems with mold in a particular room, it may be that the humidity is too high. You can purchase a dehumidifier which will keep levels down and reduce the risk of mold returning.
“The golden rule to remember when dealing with mold is: the sooner you can treat it, the better. Leaving it alone will only make it worse, so never ignore it!
“To successfully get rid of mold every time, I recommend opting for the UK’s number 1 mold and mildew removerthat effectively removes mold and mildew stains almost immediately, without scrubbing.”
One person wrote: “HG mold spray is great, it works Amazon.”
Another commented: “Mold is so scary.”
“That mold spray didn’t work very well! I used HG or white vinegar,” wrote a third.
Meanwhile, a fourth said: “We have the same problem. We currently use a dehumidifier but have also bought a window vacuum cleaner. Go through the windows every morning.”
“You need a dehumidifier. Expensive but worth it,” claimed a fifth.
Someone else added: “Get a dehumidifier girl. Those little things don’t matter and the amount you buy ultimately saves you.”
