A mother shared how her husband named their son after a character from his favorite video game and she “wasn’t the biggest fan.”
After she revealed her unusual nickname online, many people said she should have put her foot down and said “poor child” to the son who stuck with that name.

“He’s a big gamer and loves the Legend of Zelda. He’s also Welsh.
“He wanted to name our son Link, after the MC in the Legend of Zelda games.
“I wasn’t a big fan, but I compromised on Lincoln.
“He wanted it to be spelled so that ‘Link’ was still part of his name, and the y was a nod to his Welsh heritage.
“I’ve grown to like the spelling more over the years, but I still wish we had spelled it the traditional way.”
Referring to the Reddit subsection “Tragedy” for tragic names that are “intentionally misspelled or completely made up to seem more unique than they actually are,” she asked, “So tell me, is Linkyn a tragedeigh?”
People didn’t hold back their thoughts about the unusual name.
One wrote: “Yes, sorry, it’s a tragedy,” and another replied: “A pretty bad one, in my opinion.” opinion. Oof.”
And one Reddit user noted, “If you have to ask… Yes, this is absolutely the definition of tragedy.”
Some felt she should have ignored her husband’s choice of name.
One said, “Sorry, no. It’s your child too and you should have – no, SHOULD have – vetoed the name.”
Someone chimed in: “Poor boy.”

As a child, I wanted nothing more than a personalized keychain with my name on it.
But it wasn’t. The closest I could get were Rosie, Joseph (not so nice for such a little girl) and Joanne.
Josie is short for Josephine, a French first name, and I’ve been in my twenties without ever meeting anyone with the same first name.
When I try to introduce myself to people I get called all sorts of random names like Tracey and Stacey and it can be quite annoying.
Although I’ve met a few Josies in the past year (there are a few around my age), it’s still a much rarer name than most of my friends’ names.
Overall I don’t mind it, at least it’s not crude or spelled weird.
And that means I can get away with ‘doing a Cheryl’ and just calling myself Josie.
I’m getting married this year and some friends are shocked that I’m changing my last name. It’s not considered cool or feminist these days. I explain to them that I’m not that attached to Griffiths because I always just say ‘Hi, I’m Josie’ when I call a friend.
I like being unique and I will definitely try to achieve this when naming my own children.
You have to watch out for the crude names, so after nine years as a lifestyle journalist I will definitely avoid them.
Meanwhile, many people claimed that it looked like a well-known online networking brand.

Link is the main character from the popular video game series The Legend of Zelda.
We told you that Nintendo will soon be releasing a new installment in the series, in which you can play as a much-requested character.
For the first time in the main Legend of Zelda games, you can play as the titular princess.
In The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Link becomes captured and it is up to Princess Zelda to save him and the other citizens of Hyrule.
While Link uses a sword, Zelda wields the Tri Rod, which allows him to copy objects in the overworld.
These echoes can be taken anywhere you want, meaning you can use them current to solve environmental puzzles and explore dungeons.
It won’t be long before the next one Zelda game has been released. The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom will be released exclusively for Nintendo Switch on September 26, 2024.
