My Kardashian-approved ‘lazy girl’ 20p hack is the secret to soft skin in winter
A COUPLE of besties have shared their “ultimate beauty hack for lazy girls” for having soft skin – and it’s especially useful for winter.
During winter, the low humidity outdoors can interact with indoor heating, removing moisture from the skin, leading to dehydration.
That’s why it’s imperative to keep your cells as hydrated as possible when the cold sets in.
And according to the women behind the Two broken chicks podcast, a Kardashian-approved “lazy girl hack” is the way to go.
The show is hosted by best friends Sally McMullen and Alex Hourigan – better known to their listeners as Sal and Al.
The “ultimate hack” for soft and supple skin in winter is “incorporating oil into your shower,” they said.
“So when you’re done showering, apply body oil while your skin is still wet,” Alex explained.
‘And then you dry off.
“My skin is so soft.”
Sally then interrupted, “You know who does that?
“Kylie Jenner and Khloe Kardashian.”
If your skin is still wet, the water on the surface has not yet evaporated.
Applying oil at this stage traps water in the skin, creating a barrier that locks in moisture.
The hack is even recommended by dermatologists and even works with standard body lotions.
However, it is especially useful with oils, as they do not seep into the skin the way creams do.
Instead, oils primarily nourish the surface layers of the skin and prevent moisture loss by sealing the cells.
Best oils for body care
Coconut oil
Coconut oil is highly moisturizing and rich in fatty acids (especially lauric acid), which help nourish the skin and create a protective barrier. It has antimicrobial properties, making it beneficial for soothing irritation and minor skin conditions.
Jojoba oil
Jojoba oil is very similar to the skin’s natural sebum and is therefore excellent at balancing oil production. It is quickly absorbed, moisturizes without being greasy and does not clog pores.
Almond oil
Almond oil – especially the sweet kind – is rich in vitamins A, E and omega-3 fatty acids. These help soothe, soften and nourish the skin. It is lightweight, easily absorbed and has anti-inflammatory properties that are great for irritated or inflamed skin.
Rosehip oil
Rosehip seed oil is rich in vitamins A and C, which help brighten the skin and promote collagen production. It is known for its ability to reduce scars, stretch marks and fine lines while hydrating the skin.
Natural oils in particular contain essential fatty acids that support and strengthen the skin’s lipid barrier.
This barrier is crucial for retaining moisture and protecting the skin from environmental factors that can lead to dehydration.
Sisters Kylie and Khloe revealed their love for post-shower oils in a clip on the Kylie Cosmetics YouTube channel.
“I drench myself in organic oils I got from Amazon,” Kylie said.
“Almond oil or olive oil or jojoba oil.”
