My lifeless hair completely changed when I started using an $8 set of drugstore products

According to a satisfied drugstore visitor, it is not worth spending money on expensive hair care products.

She said her stringy, lifeless locks looked completely different when she started using an $8 shampoo and conditioner set and using the right techniques.

It’s undoubtedly an endless topic of debate: does ‘expensive’ actually mean ‘better’?

One Redditor is adamant that this is absolutely not the case.

“When using expensive/sulfate/silicone free products my hair just felt stringy, heavy and lifeless no matter what technique I used,” wrote Kekejenn.

“I was desperate for a solution so I kept trying these products but to no avail.”

Then she traded in her expensive device for a shampoo and conditioner duo that’s a steal, all thanks to a recommendation from a YouTuber.

“I discovered Abbey Yung, who recommended the Dove Intensive Repair kit to me,” she explains.

It is available at most drugstores, such as CVS and Walgreens, and can also be purchased at Target for $7.99.

“I was skeptical, but once I tried them (AND applied my new knowledge of how to properly wash/condition your hair), I was blown away!

“My hair felt and looked beautiful again! It’s also bleached blonde and it looks better now than when I had a natural color!”

She insisted that it was a huge difference between night and day.

“My hair has completely changed since I started using drugstore products again,” she says.

“I just used the wrong technique using cheap products. I thought the products were bad, not the method.”

Influencers had convinced her that sulfates and silicones were bad for her hair, but now she thinks that’s not the case.

However, she cautioned that just because her routine works for her doesn’t mean it will be perfect for everyone.

“Keep in mind that everyone’s hair is different, so what worked for me might not work for you,” she advised.

Her locks are “really thick” with thin strands, so she thinks anyone with a similar head of hair should give her favorite products a try.

“Even if you don’t have the same hair as me, there are so many drugstore sets that work for all hair types, so I recommend Abbey Yung’s channel if you want more recommendations,” she concluded.

Several other Redditors were positive about the set, calling it “fantastic” and “awesome.”

A Target customer agreed that it “works better than most expensive brands.”

Yet another said that Abbey Yung had encouraged her to buy it.

“I noticed my hair was thinning from using a lot of expensive salon quality products so I took Abbey Yung’s advice…and bought this Dove duo,” she wrote.
