Reddit user GearsofTed14 shared the perfume trick in a post.

“I tried the ‘no scent lotion trick’ and got a compliment after 8 hours,” they said.

“I used this unscented, ‘non-greasy’ Vaseline and simply applied one drop behind each earlobe, one drop on my neck, one drop on my throat and then sprayed it onto those areas (one spray per area, 4 total).”

After applying the Vaseline, they noticed a huge difference in the performance of their perfume.

“My Chanel Allure Homme Sport has gotten a big boost,” they said

“I received the compliment from a colleague eight hours later, while the scent had already disappeared after four to five hours.

“Since I started doing this, I can definitely smell the scent better when I touch those areas. The bass notes of CAHS seem to blend well with the scent of the lotion (even though it’s technically unscented).”

Perfume lovers agreed that the trick worked wonders.

“It definitely works, and you should be moisturizing your skin anyway,” one commenter said.

I always smell so good and get compliments everywhere I go – it’s all on the three markers to spray your perfume

“I started taking serious care of my skin last year, at the age of 28, and I definitely notice a difference, especially on my face.”

“A little bit of lotion goes a long way in extending the life,” said another.

“I can confirm this works,” said one commentator.

They explained that the hack helped extend the sillage of their perfume, making the scent last longer on their skin.

They revealed that they moisturized their skin with an unscented lotion before application to help perfumes last longer.

“I normally do it with perfume oils, but it also works well with regular perfumes. I have to say that the sillage is lower because of that,” the two say.

“[It has] longer lasting, less sillage (which I actually prefer, I won’t lie).

“I have always used Vanicream moisturizer, which is 30-50% petroleum jelly, and applied it only to my neck and chest for skin care,” said another.

According to them, this trick significantly extended the shelf life of ‘weak’ perfumes.

“[It] has always had a decent shelf life from some fairly weak scents, even if projection was minimal.”

The hack worked so well that they worried they would have to do without it.

“I’m honestly a little afraid of being disappointed by the length of my favorite fragrances,” they said.
