My mom’s homemade mask is the secret to glowing skin, it also fights acne
A DAUGHTER shared her mother’s homemade face mask that gives her glowing skin.
Her secret to perfecting the recipe is one specific ingredientbut buying the wrong type can affect its effects.
Reddit user Fluffy Poodle explained in a response on the social media platform how to get the mask just right.
She said her mother gave her some essential beauty tips.
“A turmeric mask for glowing skin, choosing the right lipstick for your undertone, beautiful, healthy teeth can make or break your face, wearing sunscreen and eating lots of stews and steamed foods,” she said.
She added that her mother recommended replacing refined sugar with natural sugars like honey or dates.
MASK ON
A Redditor was intrigued by the aforementioned turmeric mask and asked for the recipe.
“You have to use kasturi [manjal] turmeric, not the stuff you cook with, it’s a darker mustard [color] and it smells earthy,” she said.
She also had advice for people with dry skin.
“If you have drier skin, you can mix turmeric, rose water, and yogurt into a creamy mask,” she advised.

She explained how to adapt the recipe for people who suffer from pimples.
“If you have acne-prone skin, you can use turmeric, aloe, honey, and rose water instead,” she said.
“You can add some sandalwood powder and Fuller’s Earth/Clay to turmeric powder and rose water for a purifying mask that will cleanse your pores and also remove sebum.”
Fuller’s Earth Powder sells for $12.99 on Amazon.
She also gave advice to another Redditor who asked if the mask dripped.
It was a fair question, as turmeric is known for its stubborn stains.
“It doesn’t drip. Use a thicker yogurt and maybe mix in some chickpea flour or rice flour to make a smoother paste,” she said.
“Just apply it in a thin layer. You can use it a few times a week or just once.”
She added when not to use the homemade mask.
“Don’t use it on days when you’ve used active ingredients on your face as it can sting and irritate,” she added.
