My mother is in her 50s and is mistaken for my sister because of her 4-step routine
A SKINCARE fan shared the lesson her mother taught her.
She explained that her mother was able to regenerate her skin despite the sun exposure she suffered during her childhood.
Reddit user Yllwbrd shared the beauty and anti-aging tips in a post.
“My mother is in her 50s now, but when she was younger she loved the sun,” she says.
She explained that her mother used to have very different skin than she does now.
“I have pictures of her from when she was pregnant with me, all tanned and laying by the pool (we are naturally fair-skinned),” she said.
“When she turned 40, she still looked great, but she had sun damage and her skin looked a little worn out.”
To improve her skin, her mother first went to the dermatologist.
“She has been to a dermatologist and has faithfully followed her routine for years,” she said.
A skin care routine helped reverse years of sun damage.

“She cleanses her skin gently, uses a moisturizer and a retinoid, and wears sunscreen religiously.”
Her skin has changed day and night, which regularly earns her compliments from strangers.
“She looks amazing. She’s constantly mistaken for my sister and always gets compliments on her skin,” she added.
In addition to her regular routine, her mother also makes sure she can cope with the effects of the sun.
She gets peels once or twice a year at the dermatologist and has been treated for sun damage, but some of it couldn’t be fully repaired (particularly her chest),” she said.
The Redditor explained that she learned an important life and beauty lesson from her mother’s comeback.
“She really is a great example of how skin care, even in later life, can be incredibly beneficial and how important sun protection is,” she said.
“She’s said to me many times, ‘I think I look great for my age, but I always wonder if I would look better if I wore sunscreen and didn’t get a tan.'”
Others stressed the importance of sunscreen, citing their parents’ tips and tricks as examples.
“My mom is 56 and looks really good. I think her hair is the biggest giveaway: she bleached it for years and didn’t know how to take care of it, so it’s a bit fried,” said one commenter.
“She aged a few years ago because of a family tragedy we went through, but if that hadn’t happened, she would probably look a few years younger.
“Her main goals are sunscreen, no more than a glass or two of wine every few weeks, no drugs, no smoking or association with smokers, and her genes.”
