My mother looks 10-20 years younger than she is, she uses one ingredient religiously
A 34-year-old woman has revealed the ingredient her mother uses to combat the signs of ageing.
She said all the women in her family look at least 10 years younger than they are because of their dedication to skin care.
She revealed the secret to their youthful appearance in a post on Reddit’s Korean Beauty forum, which has more than 235,000 members.
INCREDIBLE INGREDIENT
She said the Korean women in her family “look great for their age” and many people think her mother is “10-20 years younger” than her.
In addition to using sunscreen, her mother and aunts also wear covering clothes and large hats to protect them from the sun.
“Most of them use a combination of Western and Korean skin care products,” she said, writing under the name hearts_spades_.

“Their favorite Western brands are Clinique and Lancôme.
“Korean brands are usually Sulwhasoo, Donginbi, Hanyul or whatever is trendy at Olive Young or Aritaum when they visit.
“For example, the Kahi wrinkle balm was a huge hit with everyone a few years ago.”
While they have a selection of effective skin care products, the Redditor says one nutritional ingredient is key to their timeless look.

“What I will say is that they ALL use or eat red ginseng religiously,” she said.
“Not so much ginger. Sulwhasoo and Donginbi are brands that have entire lines dedicated to ginseng.”
According to HealthlineResearch supports the claim that the light-colored root grown in East Asia may be beneficial for reducing wrinkles, increasing collagen production and reducing puffiness.
It can be consumed raw, lightly steamed, or as a dietary supplement in powder or capsule form.
Red ginseng can also be found in serums, moisturizers, toners, and cleansers for topical application, making it effective at every stage of the skin care routine.
OLD HABITS
The Redditor shared that her family members used to love rice water, but stopped drinking it when they moved from Korea to Canada.
She said genetics play a role in aging, along with nutrition and using effective beauty products.
Formerly a “sun worshipper” and only half Korean, she admitted her skin doesn’t look as young as her mother’s at 34.
“I only really started taking care of my skin in 2018, but whatever you do now will make an impact!” she said.
“I get compliments all the time on my ‘flawless skin’. It’s not flawless, but it’s pretty good.”
Many people gave the post a positive rating and started discussing whether red ginseng would become the next must-have ingredient in skin care products.
Sulwhasoo has several ginseng products available at Sephora, the least expensive of which is their First Care Activating Serum for Anti-Aging which costs $25.
More than 24,000 customers are enthusiastic about the product. One customer said their skin became radiant and another was enthusiastic about how fine lines became less visible.
