My perfume trick helps me switch to fall scents without buying new fragrances

FALL is just around the corner and many people are swapping the smell of sunscreen for pumpkin spice.

But one perfume lover has advised waiting a while before heading to the store to buy a new perfume in honor of the upcoming fragrance season.

Reddit user Prestigious_comb5078 revealed how she’s welcoming fall with a refreshed scent—without having to spend any money.

She gave the tip in response to a post asking users to share their favorite transitional scents between summer and fall.

“I don’t have any transitional scents,” she said.

“It prevents me from buying too many perfumes, because I only pay attention to the seasons.”

She swears by her method, which means she doesn’t have to spend money at the perfumery.

“What I do instead is layer my summer eau de toilettes over my fall eau de parfums during the transition periods between seasons,” she explains.

“Right now I’m wearing Acqua di Parma Fico di Amalfi, a summer fragrance for me with citrus and fig, over Dior Oud Ispahan, an oriental fall-winter fragrance.”

The idea of ​​layering multiple fragrances may not be new, but she’s put a seasonal twist on it.

Another Redditor agreed that this is a great tip that can be used all year round.

“Wearing layers is so good,” she said.

“It’s like owning many more perfumes and being able to recreate your favorite scent whenever you want.”

Prestigious_comb5078 spoke candidly about her passion for perfume in another messageand said she had “just” started collecting.

“I divide my fragrances into capsule form, which means I make a table of the different occasions in my life and have at least one favorite perfume for each occasion in each season,” she explains.

“I also add a few very special scents that I love and some layers of oil/vinegar.”

Attar is a strong perfume oil that is widely used in the Middle East, South Asia and Africa.

“For me the hard limit is 40 at a time,” she added.

“This prevents me from buying fragrances that are too similar, as I generally have a preference for a certain fragrance family: floral, oriental fragrances.”

She indicated that her strategy had allowed her to ‘select’ her true favourites across different perfume families and seasons.
