My problem area is my under eye area, my serum routine works better than any cream
A SKINCARE fan says a serum fixes her problem under-eye skin.
She found the serum worked better than all the anti-aging creams she had tried.
She explained that after discovering about skin care, she stopped using eye cream.
“I don’t use eye cream anymore. I found an effective serum routine that helped more than any specific product,” said Redditor Onlykitten.
Her active routine is the foundation, she explained.
“After my glycolic peel (20%) I rinse thoroughly and apply a low molecular weight [hyaluronic acid]“Then I spray my face with Avène water (any type of water will work to keep the HA hydrated),” she said.
After hydrating her skin with a facial spray, she opts for more concentrated beauty products.
“I also use a few drops of beta-glucan, which is 20% more hydrating than HA and doesn’t strip moisture from your skin.”
“It hydrates in a different way, from within.”
Beta-glucan, a soluble fiber, comes from the cell walls of plants, yeasts and bacteria.

The fibers are often used to treat heart disease, high cholesterol and eczema.
According to Paula’s Choice, fiber in skin care products acts as an antioxidant and helps fight bacteria.
But one single purchase made the biggest difference to her under-eye bags.
“After the spots have been on for a few minutes, I use Paula’s Choice 25% Stabilized Vitamin C Serum (although it’s more of a cream and gentle),” she said.
“This combination ensures that my skin, especially the skin under my eyes, remains well hydrated.”
Once the serum has been thoroughly absorbed into her skin, she completes the rest of her routine with steps to maintain her hard work.

“As I continue with my routine, I take a little bit of silicone-based primer and apply it to my slightly damp skin,” she said.
“I feel like this seals in the moisture because I don’t see any fine lines or wrinkled skin when I finally apply my tinted sunscreen (which is all I use).”
A handy trick helps her sunscreen hydrate even more.
“I add a little beta-glucan to my tinted sunscreen for extra hydration,” she says.
She explained that not only did it make the bags under her eyes less visible, but it also improved her skin all day long.
“It made a huge difference in the way my skin looked throughout the day (especially under my eyes, as that’s my ‘problem area’),” she said.
