A WOMAN has revealed she has found the ‘best’ pair of school shoes for her son.

The mother explained that she had previously bought her son’s shoes at Clarks, a store where most of us have had our feet measured, but that they had not lasted more than six months.

So the bargain hunter asked for recommendations on other places to buy school shoes. He has now found a pair that doesn’t wear out and still looks nice.

The savvy shopper, who hails from the UK and posts online under the username ‘The High Street Mums’, took to social media to show off the black school shoes, leaving many in awe.

The mom shared her clip with the caption, “The BEST school shoes for boys!!,” saying, “I just wanted to quickly show you these school shoes for boys.

You won’t find these shoes at Clarks, but you can buy and order them online at Next, Sports Direct, JD Sports and Schuh.

The mum was thrilled with her find, adding: “They are literally a game changer – they cost £23 and are basically just black trainers.”

Even though they look like sneakers, this mom claims they are allowed as part of the uniform at her son’s school.

She also praised them as being incredibly comfortable, concluding: “They’re comfortable, they don’t wear out and they look stylish.”

And with Clarks already selling shoes and trainers for £40, it’s no surprise that this super saver was delighted with her bargain find.

How can I save money on school uniforms?

IF you are struggling to afford the cost of school uniforms or PE kit, you may be able to apply for a grant from your local council. However, the criteria for this will vary from council to council.

This is usually in the form of a one-off payment that is deposited directly into your bank account. Some councils will refund payments made to approved retailers.

You can ask your municipality what assistance is available and when you should submit an application.

If you cannot get targeted help from your municipality, there are other options to get a cheap uniform.

Contact your school to ask if they can provide you with clothing.

Some charities also offer help to families in need. Charity Turn2Us has a free grant search tool on its website that you can use to find out what help is available to you.

Thrift stores can also be a good place to find cheap school uniforms.

Meanwhile, another mom posted: “Sssssshhhhhh!!!! I’ve kept these little treasures by the gate for years.”

But at the same time, not everyone was convinced that the sneakers would be suitable for their child’s school uniform.

A woman asked, “Aren’t they sneakers, aren’t they shoes? My kids’ school doesn’t allow sneakers.”

Meanwhile, a parent asked: “Where is the best place to buy school uniforms? I don’t want to spend too much because my son will rip his pants anyway.”
