My son’s name is so unique, but mean trolls say it’s “ridiculous” and “stupid.”
A WOMAN has revealed she gave her baby a name so unique he will never have the same name as anyone else.
Brooklyn Franklin, a 24-year-old NICU nurse from the US, explained that she “made up” a nickname for her eight-month-old son.
Brooklyn shared an adorable video of her and her son while in the car on social media.
The blonde-haired beauty, who is in her ‘first time mommy era’, held her son and confirmed his name is Bekan.
As the fashionista laughed and joked with her adorable baby, she wrote, “How it feels to know that my son will never have the same name as anyone else growing up.”
She then added, “And that’s in a made-up name!”
The name Bekan, from the Old Irish Beccán, means ‘small’.
Although Bekan is not a common name, it is used in Norway.
Research claims that the male nickname Bekan means someone who desires love and independence.
The name refers to someone who is generous, kind and philanthropic, but also daring, functional and spiritual.
Nevertheless, those named Bekan can also be impulsive, bad-tempered, rebellious and impatient at times.
The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @brooklynfranklinnclearly left many with their mouths open as it quickly went viral and has since racked up five million views.
But social media users were left baffled by the youngster’s name.
While some found it “ridiculous” and “stupid,” others pointed out that it’s not as unique as Brooklyn might think.
How do you pronounce it, because I keep saying bacon…

The struggle of choosing a baby name
CHLOE Morgan, Senior Writer at Fabulous, has revealed her dilemma when choosing a baby name…
Now that I’m 35 weeks pregnant, trying to decide on a baby name has by far been the hardest part of being pregnant over the past few months (minus the insomnia and countless nighttime bathroom breaks!) for me.
The dilemmas are endless…
My partner and I had a private scan to find out the gender as quickly as possible – partly because we thought it would make baby naming so much easier as we only had to come up with a list of names for one gender rather than of two.
How wrong were we…
I was definitely excited when I found out I was expecting the girl I’d already dreamed of, but being one of the last of my friends to get pregnant, I’ve had countless conversations with excited friends over the years about their best baby names . …something I wish I could go back in time and not hear again.
With every friend mentioning at least 10 possible names, I can’t help but feel like several are now a no-go, even though I know it’s something none of them would mind in the slightest – it is a total me problem!
The debate comes up again and again on social media forums: Can you choose the same name that was a “potential” for a friend’s baby?
It’s a very divisive topic and opinions are always mixed… and I don’t want to be THAT person.
While some will argue that there are thousands of other names to choose from, others will say you should choose YOUR favorite… after all, there’s no guarantee that person will even have another baby.
Then there’s the matter of finding a name you like… only to research it online and read one negative comment among hundreds of positive ones that you just can’t shake.
I made that same mistake when I fell in love with a certain name (I won’t reveal it because I don’t want to ruin it for others!)… only to see someone point out that it constantly autocorrects on a bell instead from that to something rather crude.
So back to the drawing board we went..
Only five weeks to go and it looks like our little one will be known as ‘baby gal’ for a while to come!
A third commented: “So he has a stupid name is what you say.”
Meanwhile, someone else asked: “How do you pronounce it, because I keep saying bacon…”
In response, Brooklyn confirmed: “Beck an!”
From these comments I think Bekan is more common than you thought

At the same time, someone wrote: “Bekan looks a bit like Beckham, I’m fine with it.”
To this, Brooklyn explained, “Yes, that was the name I loved, but I wanted to be more unique.”
