My Super Easy Mom Trick Keeps Kids’ Food Warm for School Lunch
There are no microwaves in school cafeterias, but one clever mother has come up with a trick to ensure children still get a hot lunch.
Surprisingly, she didn’t even have to spend money on special packaging for the back-to-school trick.
Autumn grace (@eerlijkherfst) has more than 556,000 followers on TikTok, where she shares tips for parents.
She went viral on the social media app when she shared a food trick.
Autumn beamed as she held up her child’s lunchbox and showed how she kept the food inside it warmer for longer.
“Things I wish I had known as a new mother,” she said.
“Boil some water and put it in your child’s hydro flask.
“Let it sit for a while and then throw it away to keep their food warm for school lunch.”
She demonstrated how to pour boiling water into a large hydro flask that sat in her sink.
After waiting a few minutes, she poured the water down the drain.
The hydro flask was still hot—steam was coming out of the top—when she started putting chicken nuggets in it.
“This is a great way to keep your kid’s food warm for school lunch!” she wrote in the video’s caption.
Many parents were happy with the hack.
One commenter gave advice on how to keep food from getting soggy during the day.
“I heard someone say they put a paper towel on the bottom to soak up the moisture and condensation!” they wrote.
“Yes, on this!” Autumn replied.
MOM KNOWS BEST
Autumn’s easy trick for keeping kids’ lunches warm comes after her potty training video racked up over 1 million views.
She said children will be more motivated to pee in the toilet if they are given a cup full of milk to blow bubbles through with a straw.
“Not only is this a fun activity that helps them feel comfortable on the toilet, but it also puts pressure on their bladder to help them urinate,” she said.
In a more recent video, Autumn shared a time-saving tip for packing kids’ lunchboxes.
She demonstrated how to cut a box of rolls in half and then make sandwiches with cheese and mayonnaise.
She then packed them into gallon-sized freezer bags before storing them.
When it was time to make lunch for her kids, she simply grabbed two of the pre-made sandwiches.
“This back-to-school hack for moms and dads will save you so much time making your kid’s lunch!” she said.
