A FRUSTRATED husband tells of the fight with his wife that was sparked by her latest refrigerator hobby.

After he confronted her with the problem, she started giving him the cold shoulder.

Reddit user Icy Shelter9897 shared the marriage dilemma in a post.

He explained that his wife has taken up fridge-scaping to brighten up the decor of their home.

“I think it’s a recent trend because I’d never heard of it before,” he said.

“She started decorating our fridge and it really started to annoy me. For example, she would put flowers in the fridge, in vases and in front of the food, which meant I had to move things around to get to the food.”

“She put all our food in beautiful baskets, pots and things like that.”

Although he found it a little awkward, he explained that he wasn’t too concerned about her new habit, at least not at first.

“At first I didn’t care because I don’t need to use the fridge that often and I don’t cook that often,” he said.

“But she gets too meticulous with it and adds too much decoration. It has made the refrigerator very unattractive to me.”

Worse still, it caused arguments between the couple when he did use the refrigerator.

“She gets mad if I take something out of the fridge and don’t put it back properly,” he said.

“She keeps taking it as a personal insult and acts like I did something to hurt her on purpose, when I didn’t.

“I just find it unnecessary to maintain such an organized fridge. Before she started doing this, it took me 30 seconds to quickly grab something from the fridge [but] now it’s quite an ordeal.”

After he took the leftovers out of the refrigerator, his wife accused him of leaving them in a “mess.”

“I explained that I think the hobby is stupid, and that she can decorate other things. It doesn’t have to be the refrigerator,” he said.

“It gets in the way when I want to eat quickly, [especially] when I come home from work hungry and tired and want to eat something quickly.”

Their son, he added, also found the situation “upsetting,” which he told her.

“She didn’t react after that and took all the decorations out of the fridge, which I have to admit was a relief,” he said.

“But she also acts very distant towards me and is not herself. She acts strangely in terms of intimacy.”

Commentators shared a variety of opinions, including those who found the hobby unnecessary.

“It’s really fundamentally stupid. You could put pictures and art on the outside of the fridge,” said one.

“You could buy little magnetic vases and put flowers or succulents in them. Air plants or something, but why does that all have to be IN the fridge.”

Others felt that while the hobby was impractical, they could understand why his wife enjoyed it.

“People, especially women, are called stupid all too often for liking… basically everything. Taylor Swift is stupid, the Barbie movie was stupid, Bravo shows are stupid, Stanley cups are stupid, Starbucks is a waste, etc.,” one commentator wrote.

“Would I decorate the inside of my fridge? Probably not. But if it was something OP’s wife had some fun with, then who cares, right?

“It literally doesn’t hurt anyone. And OP’s wife lives in a house with two men who likely dominate much of the household with their wants and interests.”
