Mystery as Taylor Swift fan, 23, is found dead in her car just days after moving to Maine

A 23-year-old Taylor Swift fan who went missing has been found dead in her car just days after moving to Maine.

Autumn Danielle Cleveland of Virginia was first reported missing on Saturday. Two days later, she was found dead in her blue 2018 Mazda CX5 in Dayton, a small Maine town about 25 miles southwest of Portland.

According to social media posts, the young woman was staying in a rental home in Maine and when she checked out Saturday morning, she had contacted her father, mother and sister, the Portland Press Herald.

The state police Major Crime Unit South is investigating her death but said the public is not in danger, a press release.

A spokesman declined to comment on whether her death was suspicious. Officials said an autopsy would be performed to determine the cause and manner of death.

On Monday around 3:30 p.m., someone called 911 to report a dead woman in a parked car near Goodwins Mills Road in Dayton.

According to state police, the person in the vehicle matched Cleveland’s description.

Her family reported she was last seen driving a blue 2018 Mazda CX5 with Washington state plates in southern Maine, the news outlet reported.

Autumn’s parents were deeply shocked, describing her as “shy, soft-spoken” and “anxious” and having few close friends.

Autumn’s mother, Renee Cleveland, told the Portland Press Herald that her daughter was “very selective about who she let into her life.”

“When she chose you, when she loved you, family or otherwise, there was no other love like hers,” Renee said. “Her love language was different than most. She showed you in small ways.”

Her family said Autumn “loved Taylor Swift, cats and all things sweet, especially chocolate.”

Autumn’s sister, Brooke Cleveland, called her sister “very selfless.”

“It wouldn’t matter if she was having the worst day ever. If someone else was having a bad day, she would be there for them.”

The couple enjoyed going for walks together and always ended the day with an ice cream.

Brooke said that if my sister “ever shared (her candy) with you, you knew you were in her good graces.”

Autumn’s father, Michael Cleveland, said the couple took a road trip across the country before Autumn went to Virginia and then to Maine.

“Everybody who met her fell in love with her,” Michael Cleveland said. “I know that’s what fathers say about all their daughters, but it’s true.”

Her mother told her that her daughter loved to travel and see the world, which was her goal before she ever settled down.

She planned to go home for the holidays to celebrate her birthday, November 14, with her family, and then go shopping for a wedding dress with her sister, who was getting married.

A GoFundMe was made by a family friend to help the Cleveland family during this difficult time.

The money will be used for “travel between Virginia and Maine, travel accommodations, funeral and memorial expenses, living expenses during time off, food, and animal shelter and care,” wrote Christy Clements, the organizer.

“As the family goes through this difficult time, your generosity will help ease the burden of expenses and allow them to grieve without worry,” she said.

As of Saturday, nearly $1,900 of the $20,000 goal had been raised.
