‘Nafrat ki dukaan pe…’: PM Modi attacks Congress over ‘brutality’ in US | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday criticised Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi over his slogan “Mohabbat ki dukaan”.
“They are talking about the Constitution. Ye nafrat ki dukaan pe mohabbat ki dukaan ka board laga kar ke ghumte hai. But a journalist of our country was subjected to brutality in the US by the Congress. A son of India was insulted in the US,” Prime Minister Modi said while addressing a rally in Jammu & Kashmir’s Doda.

The Prime Minister also criticised the Congress Party, the National Conference and the Peoples Democratic Party and warned that Jammu and Kashmir will revert to the days when schools were set on fire and children would have stones thrown at their hands if their policies are implemented.
“Congress, PDP and NC want to restore Article 370. That would mean that the three families will once again take away the reservation of the Pahadis. If their manifestos are implemented, schools will be burnt again, stones will be thrown in the hands of children and there will be strikes,” PM Modi said.
PM Modi further attacked the opposition for depriving the Pahadi, SC, ST and OBC communities of their reservation in the erstwhile state. He also said that opposition leaders now keep a copy of the Constitution in their pockets to hide their “crimes”.
“Today they (the opposition) are keeping a book of the Constitution in their pockets. Why are they doing this? They are doing this to hide their crimes. They had not respected the soul of the Constitution. Why were there two Constitutions here? Why were Pahadi, SC, ST and OBC deprived of reservation? After so many generations, the BJP government has given them reservations. Today, there are many individuals who have got the right to vote for the first time. The Constitution of India gives everyone the right to vote. However, those who had the Constitution in their pockets had deprived some of you of this right for 75 years,” PM Modi added.
Moreover, PM Modi also attacked the Congress over Mallikarjun Kharge’s recent remarks. “What is the thought and intention of the Congress? This is also clear from the President’s words. He comes here and says, ‘If we get 20 more seats, all BJP leaders, including Modi, would be in jail’. Is this their agenda?” the Prime Minister said.
He also said that every citizen of Jammu and Kashmir, irrespective of their religion, region or cultural beliefs, is a “priority for the BJP government”.
“I guarantee that I will protect your rights. Only BJP can strengthen the state of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
Prime Minister Modi later also highlighted the work done by the government in the union territory.
“People of Ramban district, Doda Kishtwar and Kashmir valley can reach Delhi directly by train, we will make this dream of yours come true. Very soon the work of the railway line from Delhi to Srinagar via Ramban will be completed. The station is ready and the trial run has also started. Very soon this section will also be connected to the entire country by rail. It is our resolve to provide better education and treatment to the poorest of the poor families,” the Prime Minister said.
“J&K is the state in the country where every family gets free treatment up to Rs 5 lakhs. JK BJP has announced to provide free treatment up to Rs 7 lakhs to every poor family… The eldest woman of the family has also announced to deposit Rs 18,000 every year in the bank account of the eldest woman of the family… Till now, farmers of JK were getting Rs 6,000 under PM Samman Nidhi. Now BJP has announced to increase it to Rs 10,000,” he added.
The Prime Minister also assured that the BJP government will grant full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
Eight Assembly seats in three districts – Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban – will go to polls in the first phase of the Assembly elections scheduled for September 18. The next two phases of voting are scheduled for September 25 and October 1, with counting on October 8.
