NASA invites content creators to watch the launch of the Europa Clipper mission

NASA is offering digital content creators the chance to witness the launch of the Europa Clipper spacecraft, a mission aimed at exploring Jupiter’s icy moon Europa. The mission will help scientists determine whether the moon has the potential to support life, with research suggesting there is an ocean beneath its frozen crust. The spacecraft, equipped with nine science instruments, will perform about 50 flybys of Europa. It is scheduled to launch Thursday (Oct. 10) aboard SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy rocket from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

An opportunity for social makers

A maximum of 50 social media users will be chosen to attend the two-day event, where they will have access similar to that of the press. Attendees will be able to launchvisit NASA facilities and meet with Europa Clipper experts. To be eligible, candidates must actively engage with their audience on social media, regularly create multimedia content, and have a track record of reaching a significant or unique audience.

How to Sign Up for NASA Social

Applications for NASA Social open on Tuesday, September 3, and close on Monday, September 9 at 10:00 a.m. EDT (7:30 p.m. IST). Registration is non-transferable and each applicant must apply individually. Selected participants will receive a confirmation email no later than September 30. Those attending must make their own travel and accommodations.

International participants are welcome

This opportunity is open to everyone, regardless of nationality. Participants must identify themselves to gain access to secure areas at Kennedy Space Center. In the event of a launch delay, NASA will make every effort to reschedule the event, but attendees will be charged an additional fee. If they can’t attend in person, creators can still follow along online via #NASASocial and NASA’s platforms.
