‘Necks of Sikhs’: Anurag Thakur’s memory of Rahul Gandhi during ‘Eklavya’ jibe in Lok Sabha | India News – Times of India
“Those waving the copy of the Constitution do not even know how many pages there are in the Indian Constitution,” Anurag Thakur said in Lok Sabha.
During a debate on 75 years after the adoption of the Indian Constitution, the BJP MP said: “You (Congress) have never Constitution. It was the strength of the Constitution that forced Indira Gandhi to withdraw the Emergency.”
Replying to Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Eklavya ka angootha’ jibe, Anurag Thakur said, “Ye jo angootha kaatne ki baat karte hai inhone Sikhon ke gale kaatne ka kaam kia tha (During the Congress rule, the throats of Sikhs were slit). “They talk about Sikh rights? The maximum number of Sikhs were beheaded in the Congress era,” the Hamirpur MP further said.
Anurag Thakur criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for misrepresenting the Constitution, saying, “The Constitution ended the Emergency imposed in 1975.”
Earlier, Lok Sabha Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi criticized the Central government and accused it of ‘cutting off’ the thumb of the youth by ‘handing over’ various sectors to industrialists.
