Netflix incurs the wrath of the gods as the Kaos series starring Jeff Goldblum is canceled after one season
Netflix has incurred the wrath of its fanbase after the streaming titan reportedly canceled its dark comedy, Greek mythology-inspired series Kaos after one season.
According to one of the show’s stars, Aurora Perrineau, the Jeff Goldblum-starring TV Original will not be returning for a second season after its apparent cancellation. Indeed, in a now-deleted Instagram post – as first reported by What’s on Netflix – Perrineau heavily suggested that Kaos was canned after the first series of eight episodes. Perrineau responded to a fan on the same social media platform to confirm that the show was shelved not long after her original post: “Unfortunately, yes.”
Netflix did not respond to my request for an official comment KaosThere were no rumors of cancellation, nor Perrineau’s reaction to its shelves, at the time of publication. I will update this article if I receive a response.
KAOS has now also been canceled, Netflix is definitely doing a good job of ending every new show they have; pic.twitter.com/cllQhDu8nhOctober 7, 2024
If Kaos is the latest Netflix series to be sent to the scrap heap, and it will be a huge blow not only to fans of the series, but also to creator Charlie Covell. Speak with Cosmopolitan magazine After the first season debuted on the world’s top streaming service, Covell said it was his “dream” to change Kaos in a three-season series. Unfortunately for Covell, Perrineau and the rest of the cast and crew, it’s highly unlikely that Covell’s vision will be fully realized.
Based on Greek and Roman mythology, Kaos was marketed as a modern and darkly humorous retelling of the gods it praised over the human population of Earth. In it, Goldblum stars as Zeus, the vain and corrupt leader of the Greek gods, who becomes increasingly paranoid as his long run as king draws to a close. Zeus even becomes convinced that a prophecy – involving fellow god Prometheus and three people named Eurydice, Caeneus and Ariadne – will end his time as the top dog of Mount Olympus, igniting a civil war between those ruled and those who rule them. .
‘If I don’t get a second season of Kaos, I will cancel my Netflix account’
Honestly, if I don’t get a second season of Kaos my Netfix account will be canceled @Netflix @NetflixUK. It’s the most original, well-written, beautifully smart show produced in a long time. The entire crew deserves to be rewarded.#kaos #Netflix pic.twitter.com/PQXOlGCTxbOctober 7, 2024
Kaos may not be one of the best Netflix shows ever made, but as speculation about its cancellation rumors spread online, fans have taken to social media to express their anger at Netflix for axing another of its TV Originals. A quick look at X/Twitter tells you all you need to know about what subscribers think of this decision, with many users calling it some kind of *ahem* Greek tragedy.
“Why do they even bother creating new shows that have great potential and canceling them after one season?” user domellitzobb thought. “You have to eat it all in one day to get more, and even a hat isn’t enough. This isn’t fun anymore.” Meanwhile, another X/Twitter user is in there darkwillowz wrote: “Didn’t Netflix JUST release Kaos like a week ago? And they’re already canceling it??? I mean, no one has even had a chance to look at it.”
‘They’re canceling Kaos after one season and one month after release??? Netflix is so broken”, CSMFHT used to say ArabellaWrites1 chimed in with, “Netflix is canceling a show that was planned for three seasons because of the whole storyline, it’s so stupid. Bring back Kaos and stop canceling your weird shows.”
That’s just a small percentage of the unhappy reactions fans have had Kaos‘ is supposed to be scrapped, so there’s clearly plenty of appetite among parts of Netflix’s global fanbase for a new installment.
That said, so it seems Kaos‘ Cancellation was inevitable. As What’s on Netflix notes in the aforementioned report, the show had fewer than 100 million hours watched in its first 28 days on Netflix. Compare that with, for example The perfect couplewho has streamed more than twice as many hours in the first two weeks on the platform, and the likelihood of that Kaos The renewal for another season didn’t look too promising. Add to that the fact that Netflix has changed the labeling of the series Kaos season 1 to regular Kaos a few weeks ago (again, according to What’s on Netflix), and the chances for season 2 seemed even bleaker before yesterday’s (October 7) news broke.
