Netflix promises two very different dramas with new trailers for His Three Daughters and Kaos
One of the great things about the best streaming services is their diversity. One moment you’re watching Jeff Goldblum play an angry god in a strikingly weird comedy, the next you’re watching an emotional family drama that leaves you completely in your element. That’s what Netflix’s two latest trailers promise to deliver, and while they’re very different stories, they both seem equally worth getting excited about.
We have written about Chaos earlier. It features Goldblum as a Greek god having a huge midlife crisis. The new Netflix film is from the same writer as The end of the fucking world and the producers also made Chernobylso it’s already high on our ‘must-see’ list.
The recently released trailer (below) has us even more excited about the show. It’s a teaser trailer, so there’s not a ton of detail, but it definitely looks lush and Goldblum does some top-tier swearing. The show premieres on August 29th.
Why His Three Daughters Could Be Your Next Favorite Movie
The second new trailer is for one of the most anticipated films of the year, His three daughtersIt surprised viewers at the Toronto Film Festival, where The Hollywood Reporter praised the performances as “exceptional” and it is expected to be a strong contender for the next awards season. The film is a drama starring Carrie Coon, Natasha Lyonne and Elizabeth Olsen as three estranged sisters who must come together to care for their ailing father.
The trailer (see below) is a captivating mix of sharp dialogue and highly emotional scenes. The pre-release word of mouth has been incredibly positive: Rotten Tomatoes currently has the film at 100%. Screen International says it is a “heartbreaking dive into sisterhood and grief… an intensely composed elegy on the devastating effect of saying goodbye to a parent,” while Collider says “it’s a work of great emotion and heart in the midst of the worst time of someone’s life that is also one of the best films of the year.” It sounds absolutely devastating. According to The messenger it is a “modest masterpiece”.
His three daughters will be in select theaters from September 6 and will be available on Netflix from September 20, 2024.
