Netflix Reveals New, Action-Packed Sneak Peek of Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance
Netflix on Monday released a preview of its upcoming six-episode anime action series Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance. The nearly 5-minute clip was revealed as part of Geeked Week, Netflix’s fourth annual fan event. A Netflix synopsis of the scene reads: “11 months after the start of the One Year War in UC0079, ace Zaku II pilot Captain Solari faces off against the Earth Federation’s deadly new weapon: the Gundam mobile suit.”
The series is made entirely in CGI using Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 5 and looks like a live-action film. It will premiere on Netflix on October 17.
The Netflix series is the latest addition to the Gundam franchise, a Japanese military/sci-fi series featuring giant robots, or mecha. The first TV series aired in 1979, and the franchise has since spawned TV shows, movies, video games, manga, novels, plastic models, and more.
“I’m such a big fan of the Gundam series, I hope this installment will be good too,” wrote one YouTube commenter.
Earlier in September, Netflix released a Geeked Week teaser trailer highlighting some of the streaming service’s most popular titles, including Squid Game, One Piece, Stranger Things, the Korean drama series Hellbound, and Black Mirror.
