‘Never been so excited about a Primark release,’ shoppers cry over iconic ’80s collaboration
MICHAEL Keaton returns to the big screen next month to cause even more trouble in the highly anticipated sequel to Beetlejuice.
The 72-year-old star is back as the mischievous demon, more than 35 years after the original.
Winona Ryder returns as Lydia Deetz and Catherine O’Hara reprises her role as her mother Delia.
The Deetz family has also expanded since the 1980s with 21-year-old newcomer Jenna Ortega, who joins the cast as Lydia’s daughter, Astrid Deetz.
And to get fans excited for the horror comedy, once again directed by Tim Burton, Primark has launched an epic collection of pyjamas and loungewear from the brand Beetlejuice.
It’s the latest nostalgic comeback from the big box retailer, coming just days after the return of ’90s favorite Groovy Chick.
Primark bosses said: “Say ‘Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice!’ and make yourself comfortable in our Beetlejuice [range].
“It’s perfect for the cold season or whenever you want to feel nice and warm, while the embroidered Beetlejuice text on the front adds an extra spooky touch.
Ideal for movie nights, chilling with friends or keeping warm on a cold day. Just add popcorn and your favorite Tim Burton movie!
“Whether you’re wandering around the house or just chilling out, this is the ultimate comfortable companion.”
Staff at the retailer’s Braehead store near Glasgow gave a sneak preview of the new products in their store over the weekend.
Shoppers can get their hands on a pair of Victoria’s Secret-style pyjamas featuring Beetlejuice’s iconic black and white stripes for £22, adult T-shirts for a tenner and a cute monochrome checked children’s jumper for £12.
There are also hoodies, oversized snuddies, slippers for £8 and beanies for £4.
Fans of the cult film can even buy branded cups, water bottles, mugs, make-up bags, hair brushes and make-up sponges.
The Braehead store’s video was a huge success, racking up over 1.5 million views over the weekend.
Someone said enthusiastically: “The decorations are on display all year round!!!! I’ve never been so excited about a Primark sale!”
A second screamed: “OMG I’M CRYING I NEED ALL OF THIS BUT I’M OUT OF IT.”
“We need to go to Primark. I absolutely love it,” said a third.
A fourth insisted: “I’m RUNNING.”
“We have to go to Primark,” someone else insisted.
And a sixth replied: “I’ll take them ALL.”
But it seems that only a select few stores have the creepy film collaboration, and many fans are bummed that they won’t be able to get their hands on it.
Someone sighed, “When I was there today, I didn’t see a single one!”
“I was in Trinity Primark today and I didn’t see any of these things,” said someone else.
A third fumed: “I’ve been to 2 stores… nothing. Why not all Primarks?”
“I was there yesterday and that wasn’t there, I’m so angry,” said someone else.
Meanwhile, a fifth wrote: “I find it annoying that it’s not in all shops. I went to my local shop today and they only had the wooden plaque.”
Why is Primark the place to go for bargains?
HOW does Primark do it? Keep delivering on-trend items at such unbelievable prices? According to bosses, it comes down to four things.
- They “sell a lot of items” – Thanks to them they can save by buying in bulk for their 191 UK stores
- They “do very little advertising”
- Although their clothes represent the “latest trends”, “they do not use expensive hangers, tags or labels”.
- And finally, they try to be “as efficient as possible when transporting products from factories to stores.” This includes things like “asking suppliers to package our t-shirts so they can go straight on the shelves.”
