‘Never played victim card’: Mallikarjun Kharge’s son Priyank on Yogi Adityanath’s ‘Razakars’ complaint | India News – Times of India
In a sharp response, Priyank acknowledged the family history and said that despite the tragedy, his father “never exploited it for political gain, never played the victim card and never let hatred define him.”
At a recent election rally, Yogi Adityanath had referred to the 1948 childhood incident of the Congress president when RazakarsNizam’s paramilitary force in Hyderabad State, had started a fire killing his mother and sister. The BJP leader alleged that the Congress chief had kept quiet about the incident for vote bank politics.

“So tell me CM saab, your ideology fails to see Kharge Ji as an equal, it discriminates between people, does that make you all bad or those who practice it? Who labeled him as an ‘untouchable’ or a Dalit? It existence of a discriminatory ideology does not mean that everyone within a community is wrong. “So Yogi Ji, take your hatred elsewhere. You cannot destroy his principles or his ideology. Try to win the elections based on the ‘performance’ of Prime Minister Narenda Modi ji, instead of trying to sow seeds of hatred in the society for political gain,” the X-post read.
Earlier at a rally in Maharashtra’s Amravati on November 12, Yogi Adityanath Mallikarjun had accused Kharge of suppressing these painful personal memories for political expediency.
“(Mallikarjun) Kharge’s village, Varawatti, was also burnt down by Razakars, and his mother, aunt and sister were killed in the attacks,” the CM of Uttar Pradesh had claimed.
He had claimed that Kharge suppressed this truth for fear that he would lose Muslim votes if he spoke about atrocities committed by the Nizam’s forces.
“Congress is trying to reject history and Kharge has conveniently forgotten what happened to his family just because of vote bank politics,” he alleged.
The Razakars were a paramilitary force that operated in the erstwhile princely state of Hyderabad with the primary aim of maintaining the rule of the Muslim Nizams of Hyderabad and preventing the accession of Hyderabad to India.
