Never worry about a dead car battery again with this portable jump starter, on sale for Labor Day
I wouldn’t call myself a car girl by any means, but I definitely have a few accessories in my car that you will never miss. And one of the most essential is only $80 on Amazon — 20% off Amazon for Labor Day.
My grandfather was a mechanic, so I learned a lot about cars, but I never had to troubleshoot them myself — until I did, when I had to solo-jump-start my car battery. My beloved 2011 Toyota wouldn’t start and made a strange noise when I turned the key. Like any responsible young adult, I immediately FaceTimed my dad and played the sound for him. Within a minute, he decided that I needed to jump-start my car to get it going. (Spoiler: He was right.)
Luckily I have the Powrun P-One car jump starter battery packa gift from my apparently psychic parent. Right now you can get it for 40% off the list price of $100 — or $60. It’s marked down for Amazon’s Labor Day sale — but it’s a lightning deal, so it won’t be on sale for long. So if you’re in the market, now’s the time.
This 12-volt portable jump starter is a complete kit to get your car battery going again without the help of another car or anyone else. Complete with mini jumper cables and instructions, it is practically idiot-proof. (I say this with pride as a car idiot who has used this kit to jump start my car multiple times.)
It’s easy to use. You prepare your car as if you were jumping any other car: pop the hood, locate the battery, and attach the jumper cables. Then, using the black connector attached to the jumper cables, plug the jumper cables into the battery pack, connecting the blue plug to the corresponding port on the battery pack. Then, flip the switch to turn on the battery pack, and a green light on the jumper cable connector will indicate a good connection. Then, all you have to do is try to start your car, and that extra bank of chargers should give you the juice you need to get it moving.
While my particular model is no longer available, this model from the same manufacturer is very similar and is now on sale for Prime Day. This battery has enough juice to jump start your car up to 25 times on a single charge and is compatible with 12-volt gasoline and diesel engines.
In addition to helping you get moving, this battery also comes with a flashlight, compass, and ports that you can use to charge your phone or other devices. It also has a display that shows your usage and remaining battery life. It’s lightweight, compact, and easy to store in your glove compartment or trunk.
I hate to promote a product as a lifesaver, but this one might be. Luckily for me, my car battery died during the day in a relatively safe place, but the situation could have easily been much worse. Aside from the convenience of not needing another car to jump start, this portable car battery is just as good a safety tool as a car battery. And I feel much better knowing I have it in my trunk, ready to go if needed.
