Tourists who go to Central Park in New York have a new attraction to finish this summer – and they have to pack swimwear.
The green lung of the Big Apple is one of the most loved – and visited destinations for tourists going to the city and this weekend sees the opening of a project that has been in the making for years.
The new 11 -hectare Davis Center Complex, which will be officially opened on 26 April, will bring more visitors to the less visited northern end of Central Park.
The $ 160 million project is on the Harlem End of the Park and will invite both tourists and the locals to take a dip in a brand new swimming pool, which will be New York Eighth biggest when it will open in the early summer.
And in the winter the space will transform into a large ice rink – competing Bryant Park and the Rockefeller Center when Christmas enters the city.
In the fall and spring, the space will be a green lawn, say the designers of the project.
While the swimming pool, known as the Gottesman Pool, is only in action in June, the rest of the renewed green space, which also comprises a multifunctional peat field and fitness and wellness facilities, will open tomorrow in the northeastern corner of the park.
