New Squid Game Season 2 trailer confirms some major plot details about the return of the hit Netflix series, and I can’t wait to dive back in
Squid game Season 2 is coming in a few months and we finally have a clearer picture of what the anticipated new part has to offer. With the first season setting new records for Netflix, aka the world’s best streaming service, fans, myself included, are desperate to see what happens next. They’ve already got us excited with a big The platform 2 update, and now Squid game has a huge new trailer.
The season finale of this worthy Netflix series hinted that Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) would be returning to the games, but after enduring some truly awful things with other desperate hopefuls desperate for cash, he’s clearly had enough. It seems like he’s on the warpath, ready to take down the games from within, but given the heartbreaking events and twists of the first season, anything is possible.
Luckily, Netflix Geeked Week has answered our prayers when it comes to Squid game the story of season 2, with a first teaser (see below) and a press release from Netflix that gives us our best insight into the second episode of the wildly popular series.
What is the plot of Squid Game season 2?
Three years after winning season 1 of Squid gamethe sole survivor Seong Gi-hun decides not to visit his daughter in the US. Instead, he finds himself back in the twisted children’s games, with a new group of desperate participants ready to fight to the death for a huge prize of 45.6 billion won. (which is about $34 million).
The trailer itself is largely wordless, but it does offer a lot in its 30-second runtime. Guards are once again keeping a close eye on the contestants, while a bird’s-eye view suggests that Gi-hun (and we as viewers) are once again returning to the games’ blood-soaked island. Unsurprisingly, specific details about the game aren’t made clear, but the trailer hints at some pretty dark stuff, including pushing coffins tied with ribbons into an incinerator, ominous countdowns, guards with guns around every corner, and more.
The final shot confirms that Gi-hun is once again player 456, with the cycle repeating as a large group of participants in tracksuits walk into a courtyard with large rainbow circles. It’s the closest we’ve had to a real-world glimpse of a game, but we’ll have to be patient. Squid game Season 2 doesn’t air until December 26th, so we still have – at the time of publishing – three months until we’re reunited with Gi-hun, Young-hee, and more. The holiday season can’t come soon enough.
