You’re going to have to savor every bite of this sandwich. And you’re going to hope it tastes good.

Because it costs a whopping $150 (£116).

The ‘Royale with Cheese’ is the most expensive dish on the menu at Sip & Guzzle, a cocktail bar in Manhattan.

It is made from one of the most expensive meats in the world and is served on a golden platter.

The dish was created by Mike Bagale, former chef at Chicago’s three-Michelin-starred Alinea restaurant, who is in charge of the kitchen at Sip & Guzzle.

Mike is known for his ‘progressive’ and ‘experimental’ cooking. His menu pays homage to Japanese culture, using his ‘artistic eye’ and ‘the best ingredients in the world’.

For the Royale with Cheese he uses an A5 Miyazaki wagyu tenderloin and adds a homemade cheese ‘slice’ of aged white cheddar.

Then he adds finely chopped onions and Japanese barbecue sauce, made from wasabi, smoked soy sauce, shio koji, brown sugar, tomato and rice vinegar.

For the bread, he uses the “pillowy,” “cloudy” shokupan milk bread, imported from the Ginza Nishikawa bakery in Tokyo.

The sandwich is served in an “imaginative” gold box designed by HMH Iron Design, a New York-based metalworking company.

And if that’s not decadent enough, you can also make it a ‘happy meal’ by adding a black truffle cherry soda float or a white truffle milkshake for an additional $50 (£38).

Thinking of making it yourself? You may need to dip into your savings.

An 8-pound Miyazaki tenderloin can cost you a lot of money more than $1,000 (£780), and the bread shokupan costs $18 (£14) only.

Is the sandwich worth the money?

Those who have tried it give it a big thumbs up.

TikToker Ella Kahan, known online as @chewyorkcitydescribed it in her review of Sip & Guzzle as ‘the star of the show’.

She said it’s the “most fancy cheeseburger you’ll ever eat” and that it’s made with “cheesy, delicious, meaty wagyu goodness.”

TikToker @kaitlyneats also reviewed the sandwich, which she calculated at around $30 (£23) per bite. She said: ‘Was it the best steak sandwich I’ve ever had? Probably. Would I ever buy it again? Probably not.’

Sipping and slurping is a split-level restaurant, with Sip in the basement and Guzzle upstairs. The sandwich is part of Sip’s menu, which also includes a hot and crispy chicken ‘electric sando’ on shokupan bread.

Meanwhile, Guzzle’s menu features an extensive cocktail list and the ‘world’s thinnest sandwich’, made with ingredients including 5j jamon (reputedly one of the best hams in the world) and extremely fine French cheese.

The restaurant is primarily walk-in based. Although reservations can be made on ResyThe restaurant claims they are “very limited” and are operating on a first-come, first-served basis.
