NEW DELHI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) filed four charges on Friday Maoists in the Chhattisgarh case, where armed cadres of the banned CPI (Maoist) organisation were arrested after an encounter with security forces. Several weapons including BGL and BGL grenades were seized.
The accused, identified as Aaytu Ram Nuruti, Manoj Kumar Hichami, Suresh Nuruti and Budhuram Padda, have been charged under relevant provisions of the IPC, the Arms Act, the Explosives Act and the UA (P) Act, the NIA said.
The NIA, which filed the chargesheet against the four before the special NIA court in Jagdalpur yesterday, concluded that all the accused were members of the banned terrorist organisation CPI (Maoist).
According to the NIA findings, they were involved in the attack on a search team of policemen and other security personnel in PS Chhote Bethiya area of Kanker on January 16 this year.
The investigation into the case was taken over by the NIA in February 2024. The anti-terror agency found that the suspects were actively involved in the conspiracy to attack security forces as part of their organisation’s anti-India agenda.
The NIA continues its investigation in case RC – 02/2024/NIA/RPR, as part of its broader crackdown on cadres of the banned CPI (Maoist) with a view to foiling their attempts to disrupt peace and harmony in the country.
