She has dinner in Paris, partyed in Florence and organized glamorous banquets in London – but it is another hidden Sydney Gem that is trapped Nigella LawsonThe taste buds.

The beloved British food icon, who is currently sucking up the Australian sun, went to Instagram to wash lyrically over Club Fontana, a quiet Italian eatery tucked away in Sydney’s Binnen-Zuid.

In a post -packed culinary joy, Nigella revealed, famous for her poetic descriptions of food and unapologetic love for carbohydrates, which she was fully enchanted by the Redfern restaurant and the experience described as ‘uplifting’, ‘cozy’ and ‘exquisite’.

“The visit filled my heart with joy,” said 65-year-old foodie.

“The food is excellent but cozy, and the place immediately relaxing and uplifting.”

Nigella admitted that, despite the fact that she already fell for a handful of favorite Sydney places, she was finally persuaded to try Fontana after repeated praise from her good friend and renowned ceramist and artist Shelley Simpson.

“I couldn’t resist going back to restaurants that I already know and where I have been here in Sydney … but I don’t want to limit myself to just my good, well -known chases,” she explained.

“The beautiful Shelley Simpson has been telling me about Clubfontana for centuries, and I really don’t know for sure why I didn’t go there before … But we went together last week and the visit filled my heart with joy.”

And although Fontana may not be the most obvious choice of the street, it is what it does not make good at charm.

“It is difficult to find from the street (note that I have absolutely no feeling of direction), but in the end I discovered the carpet staircase to heaven,” Nigella said – and from there she was sold completely.

The self -proclaimed ‘Carb Queen’ dived into a series of bold, nostalgic and flawlessly executed dishes, starting with a modest Italian classic – Fritto panel with anchovies.

“Pane Fritto is simple Italian for baked bread,” she said.

“But think of squeaky small pieces of sausage -shaped dough, light but with exactly the right amount of chewing, garnished with a salty line of anchovies.”

And the hits just kept coming.

From crostini garnished with soft cooked white lobal and velvety Broad Bean Purée, into garlic bread rolls that trickle caramelized garlic butter with every greedy bite, Nigella ran through the menu through the menu.

“Carb Queen that I am, I went on to their garlic bread, which comes lush in the form of a surnish roll that flows … with caramelized garlic butter,” she swifted.

She combined it with fresh, soft ricotta that compared them with ‘a butterfly kiss’, and a bitter caesars salad in the fall, complete with guanciale, roasted Kohlrabi and more anchovies (because there can never be too many).

Nigella, famous for her non -apologetic love for carbohydrates, revealed that she was fully enchanted by the Redfern restaurant and the experience described as 'uplifting', 'cozy' and 'excellent'.

But it was the dessert that the TV star and bestseller author left speechless.

“Pudding had to be the Zabaglione cream, piled up Mr Whippy style on top of a kind of upside down crumble … That is, with wine-stuffed Kweece about a biting rubble of divine peppery cookie,” Nigella wrote.

“This was breathtaking. Well, it all did. ‘

Nigella, once the thoughtful dinner, made sure that he gave the honor where it owes and sang the praise of the talented chef of the restaurant for their ‘palate as perfect as his touch’.

She also welcomed the service and gave a warm shout-out to the staff member of the front-of-house who helped when making the night ‘an extreme enchantment’.

Despite the fact that they are flying relatively under the radar, Fontana has already built up a loyal cult at Sydney Foodies, but now, with Nigella’s Golden Seal of Approving, a table at the cozy 40-seat would soon be one of the hardest to score in the city.

The visiting British food icon recently dined in Ester in Chippendale, a trendy restaurant in Sydney led by chef Mat Lindsay that can be a hidden jewel – not generally known by the general public but honored by off -turuty chefs and serious gourmets.

She about Ester because she remains ‘infallible the most exciting cuisine in the world’ after a visit to the little -known hotspot with two friends.
