'No friendly fighting in MVA': Congress suspends all rebel candidates for six years
NEW DELHI: The Congress on Thursday suspended all those candidates contesting against the official candidates of Maha Vikas Aghadi for six years, saying there would be no “friendly fights” in the alliance.
“There will be no friendly fights. All rebels contesting against the official candidates of the MVA have been suspended,” the All India Congress Committee in charge of Maharashtra said.
This comes after the alliance’s attempt to convince rebel MLAs to engage in ‘friendly fights’ to avoid vote-splitting was unsuccessful.
Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut has already made it clear that there will be no friendly fights in MVA.
“With 7-8 seats, there are multiple nominations from MVA. We have time till Monday afternoon… We will find a solution through talks,” he had said.
Meanwhile, BJP state chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule also said that in Vidarbha, they expect 99% of rebel candidates to withdraw from the race.
